Siri on iPad 2

Nothing has been announced.

At this point Apple has said only that the beta of Siri is available only on the iPhone 4S. Whether it will appear on the iPad 2 or any other iOS device is unknown.

I would think the iPad 2 would include it with iOS 5. If not instantly, Apple will probably make another update that includes it (by "making another update", i do not mean iOS 6, but something like iOS 5.1.# or something related).

If your looking for official, I wouldnt bet on it. Technically speaking, the app would run fine on most devices but they wont allow it because they want people to buy the new stuff.

My guess is it will still show up unofficially of course... lol

Siri is about the only thing interesting to me with the new iPhone. I'm getting bored with my existing hardware and smallish screen. This may sadly be the first year of not upgrading to the great new iDevice. 😟 I just don't see the reason to.

Currently, there is a Siri app for the iPad 2. I have it installed on mine. The app does work somewhat like the one demoed today. One of the main differences is the app is not vocal. It responds only with words on the screen. However, I just turned on my iPad and opened the Siri appliacation. The following comment appeared "I've been replaced! The new Siri is even smarter and better looking than me, and waiting for you on the iPhone 4S. I'll be leaving for home Oct. 15." This appears to indicate that the iPad 2 will not have Siri after the 15th.

I have a feeling it won't be.Looking at the iOS page it doesn't even mention Siri, it's only mentioned onthe iPhone4S page. I'll probably end up upgrading the iPhone for it, but it'smoronic not to have it on my iPad, especially since using Siri for emails/webposts/weather/maps/iMessage would work really well on there.

Though I'd say worst of all,knowing that Apple can easily release Siri as part of the iOS on the iPad2 butchooses not to for marketing reasons just makes me lose faith in the companyand start believing that that they've turned into another Microsoft. Just moneygrubbing. Sure it's all about stock/revenue, but it's really bad form to leavefeatures out of products just to justify new ones.

It's not uncommon. The iPhone 4 supports display mirroring natively & perfectly. You just enter a missing string. It does all come down to money. I'm really hoping for Siri on my iPad 2 as well. If it doesn't it will be available like all things via jailbreak. Unfortunately that ruins OTA updates.

I say we revolt if they don't release it for at least the iPad 2 if not the new iPods as well.

Sounds like the current Siri will no longer work after Oct 15th, and Imessages will only work between IOS5 devies, i do not want to lose my ability to message driods etc. Or am I misunderstanding this?

I'm pretty ticked that they won't release Siri to some of more recent hardware. Come on, Apple!

Well iMessage will not get rid of your texting ability, it just works in addition to it, so that if someone has an iOS5 device you can message them for free; texting is seperate and that uses your texting plan.

Well they know they kind of have us by the balls and that we'll buy their stuff anyways right now; unfortinately they're also losing customer loyalty, so the moment someone else comes up with something good people won't stick around with Apple, they'll just jump ship. Biting the hand that feeds you is always a bad idea.
