iWork refuses to save my documents!

I just installed iWork '09 from an original disk. When I finished a very important project report that took me more than 5 hours to complete (in the affected session alone) and tried to save it, I was informed that I was using a trial version of iWork. When I was asked to provide a product activation code and entered the code on the box, it was not accepted, and when I clicked on the "Go Back" button, Pages automatically quit, rendering my 5 hours of work completely and utterly useless! Why is this happening, and what can I do to solve this problem? Any answer would be much appreciated.

It sounds like you've previously been using the 31 day free trial version and still have it installed. If the icon in the dock is from the trial, that's what will open when you click on it.

The activation code is one you'd get from the iWork trial download site after paying for it online.

You don't need a code for the DVD version as you've already paid for the disc.

I no longer have the trial on any of my Macs so I can't tell exactly what the folder will be named, but I guess it would be something like iWork Trial.

The DVD version folder is iWork '09.

So check your Applications folder for two iWork folders. If the names are identical, a 'get info' will tell you which is the new one (the creation date will be later).

Trash the trial one, then remove the dock icons and replace them with the ones from the new folder.
