DUMBEST THING EVER -- Called 1-800-MY-APPLE. The issue with not having SIRI is b/c I used my iPhone 4 backup, which wiped SIRI off of the 4s.

So ... I need to do the "new iPhone" setup option and then drag all of my old stuff over to the new phone.

When into settings, erased everything and started over.

SIRI works but all of my icons are back to the "out of the box" settings. :-(

The Same thing happened to me. I had Siri when i picked-up my iPhone 4S, I sync'ed afterwards loading all my Apps, Music, Photos, set-up my icons in the locations that I want, sync'ed a few times. A few hours later used the phone to send/receive email, made some calls, etc. Late this afternoon decided to play with Siri, ... couldn't find her, what the h_ _l, where'd she go??? Like Royce, I don't see Siri in my Settings. The only place that I can see Siri is in Notifications, and she's turned-on, but for what if she isn't there. Then I saw this post. There's got to be a better way then return to factory settings, I don't want to do this every day! What is this because you did a back-up, don't understand why that kills Siri???

I actually restored my iP4S to an old back-up of my iP4 and and Siri is working is working fine. I just had to activate it under Settings/General/Siri. There's no icon to click, you just hold it up to your face and talk or hold down the button.

It's actually pretty cool, so far I haven't had problems with it not understanding me. It even replied to my thank you with "Just doing my job". Lol. This will be interesting.

Well I solved my problem sort-of, not sure if it will come back. I went to Settings>Reset>Reset All Settings>then hit the red "Rest All Settings" button. The reset button in Settings is the last button, scroll down to the bottom to find it. You will then through a few screens, agree to the Apple Term Legalese, etc. This will then allow Siri to appear in the General Settings menu. I don't exactly know why it disappeared, but if she ran away, this will bring her back. Now I hope this doesn't happen everytime you do a back-up.

Wow... That ***** that a lot of you had to resort to restoring or erasing everything. I had this same issue. Siri started out of the box but when i restored from backup, voice control came up when holding the home button. Called apple support, no help AT ALL. Stupid chick kept on telling me it was a network issue which i was sure it wasnt. After messing w/the settings a bit i found the fix. Simple solution. Settings>general>international>voice control, then you'll see two sections Siri and voice dial only. Select Siri in your language and you're set. I'm sure you'll be relieved when Siri comes up after this as i was :)

YAY you solved my issue- thanks!

Not having to do another backup is fantastic... I backed up from a 3gs and afterward my new 4s looked and acted just like the old phone! (no siri, no microphones in email and texts)

your hint worked so how come when I called apple care this afternoon the guy just didnt give me that fast solution to look in the settings!! He just went, duh we haven't seen that problem!

I thought it was a firmware issue and that even when the message says it won't overwrite the firmware i thought maybe that's what happend - you made my night and saved me from another deadly backup 😉
