Hardware or software encoders

Does anyone know of any good hardware or software encoders that can transcode HDV to MPEG2? Right now we use compressor and it is way to slow for our pipeline. We need something that can as close to real time as possible, that can convert HDV to MPEG2 with chapters markers ready for DVDSP4. Any suggestions would be helpful since compressor is soooooooooooooooo SLOW. Thanks in advance.

well, i have to ask, what is yoru source, i know you said HDV, so you have video files, is that correct?

can you get tape sources?

if so, you can do a down-conversion inside the box from a D5 and HDCAM (these i know for SURE, since i work with these formats).

the reason i ask is because i want to see if you want an encoder or a accelerator (sp)?

What are your computer specs?

Might that be the bottleneck?

Hardware encoder will easily run more than a new CPU
