If 4s is sold out, when do stores usually get a new stock of them?

I was wondering when stores usually get a new shipment of iphone 4S. I was thinking about preordering it, but if I do that there's a 60% chance my family members nor myself will be home during the time it's delievered ; the mail man will probably leave it at my door step which is prone to stealing. I'm also concerned about the condition of the iphone when it's shipped to myhouse, since when iphone are delievered individually, damage to the iphone is plausable.I was thinking of camping out at the apple store the night before, but that's a waste of time since we're not sure how many phone will be in stock. So I was thinking of just waiting until the dealer has a new shipment of iphones but I'm not sure when that will be. I currently do not own a phone; switched from verizon to ATT with my family So my real question is, how long after the intial release of the Iphone 4 did stores get a new shipment of iphones?

There is no way to know such a thing.

They may have plenty ro they may be out of stock on any given day.

Stores get shipments of product almost every day, but it may not be iphones or ipads or whatever. What they've told me is that they don't know what they get, nor do they know the time it comes in, etc.

In general, the busier stores get larger shipments than the less busy.

There is no way for anyone to predict the availablility of iphone 4S in the stores from day to day. I would imagine it would be very high demand/low inventory the first few months. At least that's what it's been for ipad, iphone4, etc.

Yes I am serious. I'm only looking for an approximation. If you thought I was looking for exact numbers, then you must have misunderstood. I'm looking for what the avaliability is based on past statistics.

What past statistics? Are you under the impression that anyone here works for Apple? This is a mere support community, there's no way to answer your question. You should ask that in the store of your preference. 🙂

I'm under the impression that people would be knowledgable about apple product; the enthusiasts. Also, does it matter what day I order it. Let says i pre order it tomorrow, will i still get it around the release date?

What people have been trying to explain to you is that no one here is privy to Apple's sales figures, sales projections or delivery schedules. No one can answer that question.

You pays your money, you takes your chances.

Thanks, I'm probably just going to wait until next month to get it. On the ATT website, it says that it'll take 14-21 days to ship. So might as well go to the store and get it.

There are advantages to waiting a bit. You'll get to read about any issues and solutions with the new device. The sales people will be less frazzled. Of course, I could just be rationalizing the fact that I'm not eligible to upgrade until January..... 😉

Shippers won't leave it on a doorstep. They can arrange for you to pick it up after an attempted delivery at one of there shipping centers.

Depending on demand for awhile what you will need to do is go to the Store and get in line each morning and wait for them to open. They will sell phones to people in line until they run out. When they are out they will put up a sign saying they have no more to sell that day. Then repeat the same thing the next day. On any given day they may only get 16 GB phones in, if you want a 32 you will have to come back another day.
