iPhone 4 Firmware 4.10.01 and Bluetooth.

Question

iPhone 4 Firmware 4.10.01 and Bluetooth.

I have a new iPhone 4 with firmware 4.10.01 and a Dell Inspiron laptop. I have been trying to connect my iPhone to it for weeks, with no success. I realize I can't transfer files using Bluetooth. I have an older iPod Touch that can connect to the same laptop with no issues at all and I can use it to play my iPod music remotely to my laptop speakers. Why is this feature not available on a newer model iPhone as well?? Or is it and I am missing something?

By the way, I can't connect at all, for anything, even tethering via Bluetooth. Other people have told me they can, but I am unable to connect both devices at all via Bluetooth.

Here is a list of supported Bluetooth profiles.

Not sure what version of iOS you really have, there is no 4.10.01.

Thanks...my OS is actually 4.3.5 I think. The firmware version is what I had listed.

So according to that list of profiles, I should, at least in theory use my iPhone for at least the same number of features as my older iPod Touch. The audio control function was what I was mostly interested in. I know it SHOULD be possible, but I have been unable to get it to connect and work properly. According to a few other discussions I've read online, other people are having the same issue as well, in particular with DELL laptops. Seems to be some sort of compatability issue between the two. Why my older iPod works though I'm not really sure.

Well, after uninstalling my Bluetooth software and reinstalling, it seems to have finally detected my phone..and even someone else's laptop two houses away! Maybe the latest software had a fix in it for this issue. Apparently I can't connect to my phone via the laptop, but I can the other way around, from phone to laptop. Not sure if this is designed this way on purpose or if there's still some kind of issue there.

The yellow exclamation mark is still displaying, but appears to be working, at least somewhat. Not nearly as well or as smoothly as my iPod however. I'm able to stream my audio from phone to laptop now as well, it's just not quite as clear or consistant as the iPod does.
