How do I change the safari history settings?

Hi,

My teenager daughter has changed the clear history settings on her Macbook. Can anyone tell me how to re-set the history settings, and ideally how to ensure she can't change them? I obviously need to track which internet sites she is going to.

Thanks in advance!

  • Safari > Preferences > General > Remove history items: (change to manually)
  • Safari > Preferences > General > Remove download list items: (change to manually)

There's really no way to prevent her from manually deleting her browsing history (maybe if you set up a non-admin account? I don't know...)

Easiest solution would be to open an account on OpenDNS and log the history through that. She won't be able to delete it. Sites can also be blocked on OpenDNS: http://www.opendns.org
