Having same problem with full version of Final Cut Pro X. I get this error message: "Publishing to YouTube failed because the username or password was invalid" -- even though I have confirmed that they're both correct by signing into YouTube itself multiple times.

I didn't have time to figure out why Final Cut Pro wouldn't upload to YouTube, despite my proper user name and password, so I use HandBrake to convert it to an .mp4 file and then upload it from my YouTube account. It's much quicker.

Why did you use HandBrake at all? You are adding a completely redundant extra step and degrading quality by an unnecessary conversion. Youtube will reconvert your video anyway.

Just submit the file exported from FCP X through the youtube site.

the problem is Gmail does not allow you to sign in to other applications using the mail password. You would need to generate onetime application specific password and save it for future use.

So you need to > Sign into Gmail go to > Accounts > Security > App password Settings > Generate a new app password

Use this password to sign in with your gmail account for your Final Cut Pro (or any other app)

And dont forget to save this password for that particular app for future use.

Hope this solves the issue

I found the following at: https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/6010255

Allowing less secure apps to access your account

Google may block sign in attempts from some apps or devices that do not use modern security standards. Since these apps and devices are easier to break into, blocking them helps keep your account safer.

Some examples of apps that do not support the latest security standards include:

  • The Mail app on your iPhone or iPad with iOS 6 or below
  • The Mail app on your Windows phone preceding the 8.1 release
  • Some Desktop mail clients like Microsoft Outlook and Mozilla Thunderbird

Access your account

To help keep your account secure, we may block these less secure apps from accessing your account, and you’ll see a “Password incorrect” error when trying to sign in. If this is the case, you have two options:

  • Upgrade to a more secure app that uses the most up to date security measures. All Google products, like Gmail, use the latest security measures.
  • Go to Allow less secure apps and choose “Allow” to let less secure apps access your Google account. We don't recommend this option because it may make it easier for someone to gain access to your account.

If you’re still having issues accessing your account after trying the options above, see other reasons you might receive the "password incorrect" error.

I followed the link: Go to Allow less secure apps and choose “Allow”

It logged straight in after that. and uploaded my video.

I have just had the same problem and after much struggling have managed to fix it. The key is you have to get an app specific password from your google account (your standard password will not work). Hopefully these steps help

1) Click onto your google account (top right hand corner of your browser if you are logged in, round circle)

2) Select My Account

3) Select Signing Into Google in the Sign In and Security box

4) Click App Passwords

5) You may need to sign in again for security (standard password)

6) Select YOUTUBE in the drop down box at the bottom for select app

7) Select the device you wish to logon with the other dropdown box

8) Click Generate - to generate a new additional password

9) Use this new password with your existing username in FCPX and it will login to the YouTube Account.

Good luck!

So Ive about had it with Apple! I have all apple products and the thing I love about them is that they just work. Recently I created a 40 min video via Final Cut Pro... I wanted to upload to my youtube channel which I have done many times before. I knew that the video would take sometime to upload so therefore I let it sit overnight. Lo and behold I wake up to next day with Final Cut Pro Shutdown and an error message saying "Final Cut Pro Quit Unexpectedly"... I have seen this message before and figured Id probably have to restart the entire upload to youtube... Not only did it not upload. But come to find out it didn't even save the the Project that I was trying to upload... None of it! Like literally none. The title of the movie is there but all the editing process and movie clips are no longer in there. IDK if this is an error with the program or what? Like first off why would you make it possible to upload to youtube if the freakin video I'm assuming hasn't been rendered yet? Like IDK how it is possible to loose everything that has been associated with a project within one program crash. So I bet you can guess what I'm going to be doing today! UNREAL!

Your project should exist. You may need to look hard to find it. FCPX is a database, the file is always hot and actively being updated. Your library ma been damaged during the crash but it can be rebuilt Search the forum and the FCPX help system for that). Your crash may have been caused by may things, some out of your control. When we upload to our youtube chanel we first share a completed movie out as a master file. Then we upload that file. It's not that we have had trouble sharing directly to youtube form FCPX, we just find it's easier and more secure to upload finished movies as self-contained rather than trying to share an open timeline.

why won't final cut pro x upload to youtube?
