Everytime i try to download a .rar file using safari the floating icon goes to the downloads button but it only downloads around 5kb of the .rar file, i have tried restarting and deleting the cache/cookies but the problem still persists, it started doing this randomly yesterday so i have no idea why it is happening,

has anyone found a fix because this just started to happen to me!!! and its really annoying thanks i was on 10.7.1 now i updated and it still does it to 10.7.2
so i found a fix well at least for me....if u have norton installed on mac then go to the firewall and Disable Norton Vulnerability Protection it worked for me!!!!

that idea almost works for me. my downloads work, but ten times slower than before, and there are things that the protection needs to be enabled for, otherwise what is the use of having it. we, as users, should not have to disable our protection to make our computer work, and that means that this isn't a fix, it is a band-aid. Apple needs to fix this, period.
Having the same problem downloading .rar files on my Macbook Pro since upgrading to Lion 10.7.2. I have to use an old iMac running Lepeard to download .rar archives. I download a lot of them so this is getting annoying. Hopefully Apple issues a fix in 10.7.3
