Auto hide taskbar not working with iTunes 10.5 & Windows 7

That's not it. It's not WMP (Windows Media Player), but it's the OS itself (the shell, really).

If you choose to hide the taskbar, whatever application is maximized, if you mouse to the bottom, the taskbar pops up.

Unless, you're maximizing iTunes. Then nothing happens. Hitting the windows key will show the taskbar, but that's only because it's showing the windows start menu.

Normally, you just mouse to the bottom to show the taskbar, the taskbar pops up. There's no additonal button hit.

This has been a while for a while now, and it's not getting fixed. That's why this thread exists.

Maybe I just worded my comment wrong then, as I think I am saying the same thing as you.

Autohide taskbar works for me with WMP and just about any other program that I can think of, iTunes is one of a very small minority that it doesn't work with.

Anyway, I am going to try the stretched iTunes window for now and will keep an eye out for a fix. There's always hope...

This is insane. So annoying, but Itunes has all my music and $11 of mine, not unistalling it now.

Apple, FIX THIS. I will seriously throw your iPhone in the trash and buy a Nokia if that's what it takes. GET ON IT.

I just downloaded updated to 10.6.3.25...went through the motions of maximizing the iTunes window. The taskbar actually popped up like it was supposed to. Do I dare say that this thing has been fixed?

If so, I'm a little annoyed it took like 4 more versions and 9 months to fix, but happy that it finally works again.

Anyone else have any success with the latest update?

Thought mine was working, then it stopped working. Odd.

It worked after the iTunes update, until I rebooted Win7. After that it went back to the way it was before. The good news is that Apple might be listeneing. The bad news is that they are profoundly deaf.

This problem probably would take less than one man-hour to fix, but it's taken almost a year to date and nothing has been done. Sorry Apple but little things like this affect the rating people give to you. This annoyance takes lets say 2 from your "out of 10" rating for iTunes.

Just put it on your to do list.

Then do it.

P.S. My rating for iTunes wasn't above 5 to start with. Just saying.

Just encountered this annoying problem on Windows 8 RTM (64-bit). I got used to just pressing the windows key on Windows 7 to make the taskbar appear, but it doesn't work on Win 8 because the windows key brings up the 'metro' (or whatever after name change...) interface. So you have to click the minimise button to see the taskbar. Very annoying issue. Fix pls.

Just use Spotify. It will automatically import new music from iTunes every time it opens--in the background, so you don't have to wait for it to finish to start listening, like you do with iTunes. Plus you can turn on radio mode or create playlists of songs you don't own to stream whenever you're connected to the internet, either by listening to the occasional ad or with a monthly subscription, just like Pandora, only you can choose the song that will play next if you want to. And best of all? It doesn't hide the taskbar.

So now it's coming up for a year since this was originally posted & still no fix... Either Apple simply can't be bothered listening to their customers or they don't know how to fix it. Personally I find the former more likely.

As someone said, it would probably take someone an hour to fix, it surely can't be that difficult, it used to work fine!

I wonder if perhaps the Apple Maps team has been assigned to this problem. I'm betting that at the exact point that i-tunes becomes irrelevant, this will be fixed. But wait - that gets me thinking that what with Spotify et al we're already past that point.

I think the same team are working on the Apple Podcast app, another unmitigated disaster!
