I have the same problem. I have followed just about every suggestion on the web, uninstalled all Apple devices, cleared my cache, checked the register and reinstalled and it still hangs up. I don't even get to the point of connecting my Ipod. I have used my Ipod for several years and not run into a problem until now. VERY frustrating!
me too am having the same issue's here and it's so slow it need more than 24 h to restore my backup 😠
Yeah I have same problem, and I have tried everything I can find on net to solve it but NO so I now have itunes program that is about as usfull as a chocolate fireguard....Come on Apple sort it out, or are you getting like blackberry???
Windows vista
iPhone 4
I'm having the same problem...good grief. Where's the fix?
Having the same problem with my iphone 4 and itunes 10.5 on windows 7. What is going on Apple? What have you done to itunes? Atleast acknowledge the problem and give us a time frame for when we will see a fix.
Same problem here. Windows 7 and iTunes 10.5. Once I upgraded I can no longer access the iTunes Store. I wonder if Apple realizes all the money they are losing when we cannot access the store and by stuff. This is the second time this has happened. Apple finally fixed it last time after weeks. If anyone can help me fix this that would be great. Already tried all the uninstall and reboot stuff, no help at all.Arg!!!
You might want to try this, I had the same problem, was getting real frustrated and came fond this post from
It worked for me hope it does for you ;-)

Like so many others, after updating to OS6 and changing my iCloud password, none of my devices (iPhone, iPad, MacBook Pro, iMac etc) could connect to the tunes store, the error message was something "iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store. Make sure your network connection is active and try again." However, there was nothing wrong with my internet connection - programs like Safari & Mail worked just fine.
After trawling through the discussions and trying the recommendations (change time/date, activate location services, reset network settings etc) I just became more frustrated.
I figured that if iTunes thought my network connection was the problem, maybe I should try tricking it and, after much trial, error and frustration, I did find a solution - and it may work for you...
I turned off WiFi on my iPhone, then connected to my telco's 3G network, then connected to the iTunes store and it worked fine. Then I switched back to WiFi and all is good. Did the same for the iPad. For the MacBook and iMac I turned off WiFi then tethered the iPhone on the 3G network to the computer, then connected to iTunes Store, then went back to WiFi. For some reason that I don't understand, this all went as planned and now everything works.
Anyway, I thought I should contribute to the community by letting you know the solution I found. Of course, this may not necessarily work for you, but it's worth a shot.
