Using S/MIME on iOS 5
One of the advertised features of iOS 5 was the inclusion of S/MIME in the Mail client. So far I can't find any documentation for how to enable or use it. Has anyone successfully done it?

Thanks, is this basically the same config as in the recipe from User imercado?
Will that script work? Where is the file /root/openssl.cfg generated? Is there a particular reason to create this in /root/certs?
So far on iOS 6 only certificates from external CA like Comodo did had partial success. Signing alway works, encryption sometimes...
Here it works always.
the
/root/openssl.cfg
is the sample given above.
the scripts makes it more simple to use... the /root/certs saves the files on that location
i use /root/ because i'am sure that only me has access
Thanks but as said: self-signed certificates did not work for me on iOS6. I would also assume that iOS6 does not allow self-signed certificates anymore.
I have a iPhone 5S with IOS7.01 installed.
All my S/MIME certificates are rejecting due to a wrong passphrase
"Failed Passcode Attempt"
( export passwd wrong )
i also use my certs on iPhone5 with IOS7 and it's works perfect. now it's ****
Can anyone confirm this?
mv iPhone5S /dev/zero
I confirm this, moreover email with mime extensions are not readible anymore on iOS7.
This is a killing factor in our enterprise
I did a "settings reset" and everything was working again. also inporting certs.
so all you passwd's will be restored but iy's working
Fabu, your solution worked perfectly for me. Thank you!
Still Works the same for iOS 7 and Mavericks in case anyone else is hunting.

Hi,
have you succeeded in setting your iCloud S/MIME encryption?
I'm having the exact same problem as you did : certificate installed correctly, but mail being sent not encrypted.
I think the problem comes from the multiple iCloud aliases : my certificate is for ...@me.com but i'm thinking apple mail uses ...@icloud.com on the server.
Just an idea...
Anyway thanks for replying
cheers
