I reckon they are just sat in the office, watching how many update requests from people clicking on check for update on iTunes. The Apple employees in charge of the updates are probably taking bets on how many update requests per hour they will have.
On a more serious note though, i've had ios5 for months it really isnt worth waiting in all day for.
That is often the rub isn't it ....................................
wait till tomorrow ....................iOS5 wrecked my iPhone wail wail wail
I chaked from early morning in Bahrain 7:30 AM but nothning. and now 7:00 PM`
so how come you've had iOS5 for months?
Certainly is! The amount of people on the Dev forums who sign up as a developer to get the beta then winge that their phone doesn't work!
Don't get me wrong ios5 is good but you have to look around to notice changes, certainly not worth loosing a day of life just waiting for it.
Not much info has been given out on the find my friends app, it certainly doesnt come with ios5 as i don't have it. It must be a stand alone app like find my iphone.I can only guess it will be available on the app store at some point.
ios Developer the beta came out in june/july and the final gm release has been out for a few weeks. Not sure why they take so long to release to the public. I think apple like to build up a bit of suspense.

That depends upon whether or not the new features fit your desires. I've iOS5 installed on two iPad 2s and two iPhone 4s. I really like the notification center and the 'instant' access to the camera on the iPhone (Why isn't it on the iPad 2?). Overall, I like it, but I do agree it isn't worth pulling one's hair out while waiting.
... so much for the hype then!
Well, I'm looking forward to it ... any improvements/additional functions have to be worth something, eh, guys?
True! Not sure why they didnt put it on the ipad but then the notification center doesnt have the weather or stocks on it like the iphone either so it looks a bit basic compared with the iphone.

Yes, like all previous iOS releases this one will be a perfect fit for many and a "Ho-Hum" release for some. As I said, I like it as I think most will.
Have a play on https://www.icloud.com from your device. Find my friends is now available to install from there!
Might take the edge off of waiting for ios5, hahaha
Like i said, it's good but i get the impression some people have waited up until the early hours and are frantically pushing update as if their lives depend on it.

Find my Friends is an app and as such will likely be available on the app store in about 40 minutes or so unless Apple has devised some other means of getting it into iOS5.
It's already available if you go to icloud.com from your device! I meant to say now available!
hmmm....well i couldn't find it from my device...
It's not on the app store yet. You have to go to www.icloud.com on safari from your iphone/ipad and you can install it from there.
