iTunes 10.5 for Windows 7 not connecting to iTunes store.

I updated to iTunes 10.5 today hoping that Apple fixed the connection problems which came with previous versions of iTunes for Windows. Unfortunately I was wrong. After installing 10.5, I cannot connect to the iTunes store...again. The progress bar at the top locks (along with the message "Accessing iTunes Store") and after 30 seconds all I get is a blank page. This is exactly what has happed in the last couple of versions of iTunes for Windows. I tried some of the 'netsh' fixes seen on other posts and this did not solve the issue. I also tried unistalling the specific AppleApplicationSupport software (in this case 2.1.5) and re-installing the 1.5.2 version (which fixed the connection problems on the previous version of iTunes) as seen on other posts but doing this will not work either. Any suggestions out there?

The netsch refresh worked for me on my desktop which is my main, but not initially. I have to preface that with a couple of notes. First, this is a very common issue with Windows 7 since 10.2. 2nd my much more recent install of Windows 7 and iTunes on my laptop and also on my Macbook didn't generate any issues. After talking to Apple I was advised to uninstall everything Apple related except for Safari and reinstall iTunes from a fresh download as there was an issue in 10.2 that couldn't be fixed by simply updating. This solved my syncing issues and fixed connectivity enough that I was able to access my account via iTunes.

I was left with the same problem as the OP however when trying to access the store. At this point I was able to use the netsch refresh which worked like a charm.

Also as imanog said... in a really jerkish way... check your ports, check your security software and firewall settings. Honestly in this day in age there isn't a lot of need for 3rd party security or antivirus software as its invasive and can really muck up your system. Microsoft Security Essentials is a free download for Win7 users and I haven't had any issues in a over a year of using it. It also has an easy to use UI for allowing and denying programs access to the net. Hope this helps.

I was able to fix my issue with the netsh fix. But implying that these issues are none of Apple's fault I think is sweeping things under the rug a bit. As a Windows iTunes user since the store's inception, this is the first time I have ever encountered this (with iTunes 10.5). And I have used three different AV apps through the years (currently MSE). I'm not trying to badmouth Apple. I think they're great. But I do think some responsibility with this issue lies within iTunes' code somewhere...

Hi, I too have been suffering from this " Can't connect to the iTunes Store " syndrome and traced it to a Freeware program called " Spyware Terminator ".

After deactivating all the " Start up programs " except all the Apple related programs, that run at Windows start, I tried to Sync and like magic iTunes finally functioned normally and I could connect to the iTunes Store with ease. And so 1 x 1 I reactivated the Start up programs and ran a Sync, until I let " Spyware Terminator " load up at Windows start and then Itunes wouldn't sync or connect to the iTunes Store....so I uninstalled the Spyware program and now my iTunes 10.5 on Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit runs smooth as a baby's bum.

If you don't know how to stop " Startup programs ", download Iobit's " Toolbox " freeware, www.iobit.com/toolbox.html and double click " Startup Manager " and deativate everything, except all the Apple items.

If you don't want to do all that and you are running an Anti Spyware program, then try uninstalling it, then reboot and connect your phone and Sync it....if that resloves your problem, then great.... if not try my method above.

The issue seems to be a conflict between filtering programs (net nanny, Bsecure, AVG, etc) and windows 7 and itunes. Uninstalling the filtering program from my computer resolved all the issues I was having, not just itunes-related issues. However, it leaves me with no filtering for my family. The filtering software companies are blaming itunes, but it seems to be a 3-way conflict.
