iTunes 10.5 for Windows 7 not connecting to iTunes store.

I updated to iTunes 10.5 today hoping that Apple fixed the connection problems which came with previous versions of iTunes for Windows. Unfortunately I was wrong. After installing 10.5, I cannot connect to the iTunes store...again. The progress bar at the top locks (along with the message "Accessing iTunes Store") and after 30 seconds all I get is a blank page. This is exactly what has happed in the last couple of versions of iTunes for Windows. I tried some of the 'netsh' fixes seen on other posts and this did not solve the issue. I also tried unistalling the specific AppleApplicationSupport software (in this case 2.1.5) and re-installing the 1.5.2 version (which fixed the connection problems on the previous version of iTunes) as seen on other posts but doing this will not work either. Any suggestions out there?

I'm having the exact same problem. I've tried the solutions here, and at first it seems they worked. After trying the netsh thing and getting rid of spyware terminator, the iTunes store loads perfectly now. But I can't download new apps. When I try it seems the download is going ok, but just as it's finishing I get this:

EDIT: I checked and made sure data execution prevention was NOT on for iTunes, and it still does this. Also I'm using windows XP, not 7.

I had the same problem with Windows XP SP2. Let me also say that along with the symptoms described by others (progress bar getting halfway, etc.), on my machine iTunes.exe and APSDaemon.exe were essentially taking up all the CPU time (although the machine was not hung).

Anyway, unintalling Net Nanny fixed the problem for me. (I did not try just disabling it becuase another used noted that he had to uninstall it.)

I had to completely uninstall my web content filter, CloudCare from bsecure, before I could access the iTunes store normally.

I had suspected it was the filter and configured it to allow everything that iTunes was running or trying to access (at least what I was aware of), but without success. Then I tried turning off filtering. Nothing. Only the uninstall worked. It's unfortunate that some popular parental control filters do not seem to play well with the new iTunes, as I consider both services highly valuable.
