iOS 5 wiped all my contacts. Any help?

did you set up icloud on your device?

i did.. and when i chck my icloud account i on see my name and apple just 2 contacts. it probably sync with my mac which only has 2 contacts and i probably lost the contacts in my phone i dnt know - just my guess

did you check on itunes>preferences>Devices to see if you have any backups? that could help you restore it from a back up and get ur contacts back.

yes i did they're there but when i back it up its still the same. no new contacts are added.

I have the same problem.

Lost everything and i always made frequent back up and one just before the os5 update.

lost pictures, videos, contacts, messages... i am really disappointed.

have you been able to get in touch with the support online to help you?

i'm in France and it's shut...

but i'm sure it's dead cause when i connect to icloud i can't see no contacts, pix....

really bad update....

havnt tried support yet its 1133pm here right now central time. ill probably check tomorrow if i dont get lazy. so fraustrating- it should have been easy if i back it up manually in case somthing gone wrong, but probably got excited and forget the very important thing.

I lost all my phone contacts too. I hope Apple aware this problem and quickily come out a proper solution. Within 24 hours pls!!!

i really that their update and servor had something wrong.

i've never had any problem like that before.

it's the worse thing that can happen...

they really have to find something to get back ups right...

try chcking icloud.com if your contacts are there. if not then its probably in your computer. or worst no backup was made. 😟

i just got all my contacts back on my phone. go to settings>mail,contacts,calendars etc>import sim contacts. hope this will help.

All my contacts are still intact, but when ever i go into messages the conversations appear by number and not name! Can anyone help me out with this? i've tried replacing some contacts but it doesnt work. Any hints or tricks?

so apparently all of my backups have been erased from my computer. I have no knowledge of this happenening. This is extremely puzzling to me because I have both an iPhone and an iPad. To upgrade to iOS 5 it forces you to create a backup.

I searched the mobilesync folder but theres nothing there. I even broke out an external disk which i time machined from my old computer and theres no backups anywhere. I have no clue what is going on all I know is I'm extermely frustrated at how difficult this process has become

This edit and save in Msg worked for me! They're all back as if by magic!!!

I thought mine were gone too, my Contacts list was empty but my Favourites were still there. Then I clicked on the Groups button at the top and selected All Contacts and and then they were all back. Maybe they are all there but they are filtered somehow until you reselect to show All Contacts.

Got mine back last night but nor 100% sure how.

I was planning to do a restore, sync my contacts somewhere, then restore to IOS5 then re-sync. But my phone wouldn't restore back to IOS4 and just gace a 3200 error.

I checked my google account and I must have synced my contacts ages ago, so had some, but not all so i decided that was better than none. So setup my itunes sync my contacts with google.

When it done it all my contacts were back from before th IOS5 upgrade, not just the ones on google but with some duplicates.

So they must be on the phone and the sync with google must have reset something to make them apear.

Got my 4S comming tomorrow so I'm going to be extra carefull and get some seperate copies of all my data somewhere.
