"Find My Mac" not available after Lion Recovery Update and 10.7.2 Update

I have the same issue, with a 2011 MacBook Air. Apparently it's something that has been happeining to few people...

I have a early 2011 macbook pro with the same issue. If you guys find the solution let me know. I resintalled the 10.7.2 and recovery update still no luck not sure what may be causing it. Think they missed something for our computers on the update.

See if you have a recovery partition installed. Hold down the option key while booting right after you hear the startup chime. Keep holding down the option key until you see the Apple Logo and spinning gear. If you don't see the recovery partition listed as an option from which to boot it has not been installed.

You can install the recovery partition by downloading the full 10.7.2 installer from the App Store and installing it over your current Lion installation. This should not overwrite any of your data but back up first just be safe. In order to download from the Ap Store hold down the option key when clicking on the Purchases tab and the Install button should become active.

I don't use Boot Camp but it is my understanding that a hard drive with Boot Camp installed can not have more than four partitions. The recovery partition counts as a separate partition so if you have Boot Camp installed and four existing partitions the recovery partition will not install.

I do have the recovery partition installed, but still it doesn't work for me...

I am having the same problem with an Sandy Bridge 2011 Mac Book Pro. I have tried downloading and reinstalling the Recovery Partition Fix from the support site, redownloading the 10.7.2 update and will try installin each of them again, but this is frustrating.

Having same issue, downloaded the manual 10.7.2 update from apple site and still no luck - cannot activate find my mac - early 2011 MCP

What do you mean that you "manually" installed the Lion Recovery update? Do you mean that you downloaded the update directly from the Apple site? If not try that. Lion Recovery Update on the Apple site.

As well as requiring a recovery partition Find My Mac also needs for Wifi to be turned on and for "Enable Location Services" to be checked in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy.

I have exactly the same issue. My Mac Mini & MacBook Pro were able to download the updates from Software Update. My MacBook Air stated "Your software is up to date" and I therefore downloaded from the Apple Download site.

It seems from this thread to be a strange MacBook Air issue. Frustrating as my Air is the one I take around with me the most and therefore Find My Mac would be the most relevant on this computer!

I have the same issue on a 2011 Thunderbolt Macbook Pro.

Same problem here, 2011 Sandy Bridge 15 inch Macbook Pro. "Find My Mac" works just fine in my 2008 iMac after 10.7.2 update... its a shame really, the MBP I move a lot, the desktop, not so much.
