-5000 error updating iPad to ios5

Trying to update my iPad to ios5 and I'm getting an error that reads.

An error occured while backing up this iPad (-5000). Would you like to continue to update this iPad?

Continuing will result in the loss of all contents on this iPad.

So far I've done a hard reset of the iPad twice, rebooted my PC a couple times which is running Windows 7. Deleted the one backup in the iTunes software and still getting this error.

Any ideas?

Like they say for Real estate... "it's location, location, location". But for error 5000... "it's your anti-virus, anti-virus, anti-virus". I had the same problem but I read Jindisek's post (and others) and disabled my anti-virus for 30 minutes while IOS5 downloaded and installed without issue. I was using Norton, but I see that Microsoft's product also causes issues, so (temporarily) disable all that apply while upgrading.

It's not rebooting, or power-cycling, or the firewall, ... "it's your anti-virus, anti-virus, anti-virus".

I've encountered this problem running Windows 7 and AVG Free.

I disabled the 'Resident Shield' AVG component and the process ran through cleanly.

I'm not entirely happy with this as a solution because I can't see what Apple could be doing while taking a backup that would fall foul of an AV - but as the upgrade worked I haven't investigated things further.

Just don't forget to switch the AV back on when you're done...
