-5000 error updating iPad to ios5

Trying to update my iPad to ios5 and I'm getting an error that reads.

An error occured while backing up this iPad (-5000). Would you like to continue to update this iPad?

Continuing will result in the loss of all contents on this iPad.

So far I've done a hard reset of the iPad twice, rebooted my PC a couple times which is running Windows 7. Deleted the one backup in the iTunes software and still getting this error.

Any ideas?

Definitely not a good upgrade system this time. After multiple attempts my iPad finally took the update. Then after it rebooted and tried to restore from iTunes it failed. Rebooted my PC and got a blue screen on shut down related to USB drivers.

Did the restore and none of my applications are on the iPad, getting very annonyed at Apple.

Fckybast, you chose your own answer as the correct answer, but you don't have a solution in it? That seems odd.

I had the same problem with an iPad 2 updating from a Windows 7 machine. Reboots of everything didn't fix it. Disabling the virus software, Microsoft Security Essentials, solved the problem. Worked perfectly after that. I think Jindisek deservers the "correct answer" here.

I expierenced the same (-5000) error message and took the advise of Jindisek and Disabled all of my Antivirus software and everything executed flawlessly.....Thanks Jindisek!

Ditto - although two issues needed to be resolved:

1. PC Tools Spyware Doctor was preventing back-up on iTunes start. Thanks Rootmail on another thread who advised:

Solved--at least for me under Windows 7. Spyware Doctor by PCTools caused the problem but they fixed it and noted it on their support forum. It also fixed an issue where the iTunes store was not appearing in iTunes though the store appeared properly in browsers. Their fix addressed both issues for me.

The iPad once again backs up and syncs properly on the Windows machine, and the iTunes store appears properly.

Short version: I was using Spyware Doctor with Anti-Virus version 8.0.0.651. The issue has been fixed in version 8.0.0.662. Simply download the new version http://www.pctools.com/mirror/sdasetup.exe

2. Then, after reading Jindisek I disabled Spyware Doctor and upgade proceeded with out an issue.

Yes, fckybast answer is hardy deserving of Correct Answer status

Having to disable antivirus software is not a solution Mr Apple. Pls fix these confounding backup issues fast. I am getting very tired with having backup/upgrade issues with ios 5. Will be waiting for next update before I try again. Also why can't the developers put in a very simple option to backup to the device of your choice on a PC? Or at least a C: or D: option.
