Mail client and iCloud issues

Anyone else having this problem where the Mail client on you Mac will not accept you new iClould account when you try to add you new iCloud account through the Mail preferences? I am running Snow Leopard.

I having same problem but across ALL devices. Started on iPhone a couple of days ago when iOS was saying that my username or password was incorrect. Then Mail.app was acting the same. I've deleted accounts and re-entered the details and nothing. When I went to iCloud.com and tried to login to Mail it said there was an error and I looked at the details and it said server error. This does keep happening and is becoming frustrating. I'm now in the process of moving email accounts away from iCloud can't keep having to go through this shambles periodically.

As much as I like Apple both software and hardware I really wish they would stabilise software before they think about upgrading and bringing out new features without the overall stability the OS deserves. It really made me cringe when ML was previewed because Lion and iCloud is nothwhere stable and they are releasing new parts of the OS in only a few months. I really don't get it.

Though I hate to be selfish here, I must. I am on a Windows 7 machine where everything worked perfectly for quite a while. Then 2 days ago, iCloud blew up. I cannot sync my iPhone, iPad contacts, mail, reminders - anything! I can't log into the iCloud control panel anymore.

This truly tragic as I rely on iCloud for so many things. Do I need to find an alternative or will this silly "cant' sign in because of a server error." get resolved?

Really Apple? I thought so highly of you before. Are you seeing someone else? Are you cheating on me? Why can't I find you when I need you? I am feeling very insecure right now. Please come back....

Does this mail drama EVER end? here's the message i'm receiving and I've tried EVERY suggestion on this thread:

"Logging in to the MobileMe IMAP server “mail.me.com” failed. Make sure the user name and password you entered are correct, then click Continue. If the information isn’t correct, you cannot receive messages."

I've entered and RE-ENTERED the correct password several times and still no mail. Everything works fine on other devices

If you are using iCloud you are using the wrong server address, mail.me.com is the Mobile Me server, imap.mail.me.com is the iCloud server.

My server setting says p01-imap.mail.me.com

The only thing I have noticed is that my outgoing mail server is set to iCloud by default for my iCloud account but when I went into 'edit SMTP list the iCloud account isn't in the account info section. I'm not sure whether that has alsways been the case. So what I did was to setup another iCloud outgoing mail server setting but that didn't work. I can send mail but can't receive.

Remove the account and re-enter it manually using the instructions in my previous reply.

I noticed something else odd too. I was messing around with the Mail etc. and iCloud in system preferences, only to see that the box was unchecked for Mail & Notes. I checked it, and went over to Mac Mail, only to see my iCloud inbox disappear. I went into Accounts, and iCloud had automatically removed the mac.com/me.com extension from my username. Once I put that back in, the inbox returned; however; the box is now unchecked in iCloud.

Otherwise, I went to try the above recommendation for Csound1, and the Incoming Mail Server is autofilled and whited out after reinstalling iCloud - the same server settings at marc smith6
