Is there a technical reason why I can't sync both my iCloud and Yahoo/Gmail contacts at once?

Is there a technical reason why I can't sync both my iCloud and Yahoo/Gmail contacts at once? I would like to be able to sync between all three services.

Mac mini, Mac OS X (10.7.1)

Definetely not. It's as simple as maintaining a single database and use it for iCloud, Google, Yahoo or any other... like it was earlier. It's just Apple being barbaric in their strategy to restrict use of competing devices and services.
