How to flag Mail Messages in iOS5?

My Mail messages in iOS5 don't reflect the flagged status in mail. Trying to flag them on the iPhone's Mail clinet by selecing "edit" should (apparently) offer me a choice to delete, mark (as unread/read) or Flag. I just get a choice of Mark or Delete - No flagging option, no flags showing on any of my messages. I'm using 10.7.2 and iOS5 (natch) on an iPhone 4 - Anyone got this to work or am I missing some hideous, glaring ommission?

Thanks

M

Choose MARK, then FLAG or MARK AS UNREAD are your options.

I'm running Exchange 2010 with SP1 with rollup 5 I think. So pretty up to date. Putting on Flags works fine for both the Lion Mail app and the iOS5 mail app.

I, like you, would like to see a smart folder for Flagged mails on the iphone, initially only the mails synced with the phone, but like any search an option at the bottom to search on server to see all flagged messages in the mailbox (There may be flagged items in other mailbox folders!!)

The only problem I'm having right now is that it seems as if I cannot remove the flags in the Lion Mail app if the flag was put on by the phone!! I select the clear flag option, it looks like it's been removed and the smart folder counter goes down by one, but if I do get mail (Sync) the flag returns.

The flag for the 2 mail's I'm having problems with do not show on the iphone anymore so it looks like the lion mail app has done something but now they are not showing any more I cannot use the phone to remove them. I've also tried adding the flag back on with the iphone, which works, and I can remove it again, which works. The Lion mail app through all this shows the flag as on all the time.

Removing the flags in outlook still doesn't work. However Outlook and Iphone now do not show the flag on, only the Lion Mail app does!!

All very annoying!!

Not sure I have the same problem, but I guess it is related. I have one Yahoo! account and three Gmail accounts set as Exchange accounts in iOS5 Mail. All accounts are using IMAP. The "Flag" option under "Mark" is available in all four accounts in iOS Mail and works fine on the iPhone Mail client.

When I get back to my Mac, I was expecting all the flags to be synchronized and displayed on OSX Mail. They don't. Just flagged messages on the Yahoo! account will display as flagged in OSX Mail. As a test, created a Gmail account (using the Gmail template) in iOS and flagging works just fine and synchs with the Mac. But then I won't get push for my Gmail accounts (that's why I am using the Exchange settings for those accounts).

Am I missing something here?

Thanks!

I updated to 10.7.3 a while ago and since then this issue has gone. I can now remove the flag within the mail app for mail items flagged in the mail app on my iphone.

I suspected the mac mail app was not updating the exchange server very well and not this update is on and it's working I guess they've fixed it.

I'd still like to see a smart folder on the iphone for flagged items. Even to be able to search the server for flagged items when the iphone is only sync'ing a weeks worth of mail so I can see all flagged messages.

I have read many threads of this and am new to Apple Forums. I'll keep it breif but concise:

Q. Will/has Apple released this feature? (Just want to flag emails on my exchange on my mac - then see the accumulated flagged emails and reply on my iphone/ipad)

>Q. IS there another solution that people are using?

Q. Do Apple Reps/Employees respond to these questions or is it mainly independent users.

Thanks!

Hello Everyone,

@Richardo - I am seeing the same issue and am unsure what workaround(s) are available. My work email is hosted on Google Apps and I use Gmail for personal. Because Exchange allows better contact syncing and calendar invites I have setup both at Exchange mailboxes on my iPhone. I'm running iOS 5.1.1.

Any suggestions, work-arounds, or other tips out there in the wild?

Thanks,

Brian
