Problem backing up iPhone 4 before updating to iOS 5

Hi. Everybody is very nervous at this moment, and everybody is having several of troubles... all of them related to same thing: "Error 3200". But that's not happening to me. I've been trying to find an answer, but no one seems to have my problem... Well, I have downloaded my iOS 5. When I press "Update", you all will know, iTunes makes a backup of your device. So, it starts backing my iPhone 4 up, and 1 minute later, I got an error about the backup (it says -43, I don't know what it is). Then, iTunes asks me if I want to continue, but if I do, I will lose my iPhone 4 content, so, logically, I press "Cancel".

I don't really know what to do, I don't want to lose my data, but it looks like there is no other way to update. I hope someone can help me.

I don't know the exact translation in English, but it happens what I've said. If you want, here's a (Spanish) screenshot:

Same error message here. It doesn't seem to be the Apple verification error, which seems to happen at the end. So, I'm going to wait until the server load is less and hope that it has something to do with that. Otherwise, I don't know how it can update, but still have a valid backup, and be able to restore that backup once the update is done.

If that doesn't fix it, I may be paying a visit to the apple store this weekend in order to have them figure it out...fun!

Oh and the error is as follows:

"An error occurred while backing up this iphone (-1303). Would you like to continue to update this iphone?

Continuing will result in the loss of all contents on this iphone."

Having the same issue. Error code -1303 when trying to finish the backup of my iPhone before the iOS 5 update (just right after all data from the phone has been copied - the standard backup procedure works). Tried it several times, restarted the computer (PC with Windows 7, 64 bit) and iPhone, but that didn't fix it.

I moved my backup folder to another partition because the free space on the primary one wasn't enough - maybe that's the reason!?

Thanks for any help!

Maybe that's the common thing. I have my entire itunes and app folder and backup folder on a different drive, and they are linked by a dynamic link. I also am running Vista Ultimate 32-bit. Mine also has no problem with the standard backup, but for some reason the update backup can't handle it...

When I updated mine to iOS5, I received 'An error occurred while backing up this iPhone (-402636788). Would you like to continue to update this iPhone? Continuing will result in the loss of all contents on this iPhone'.

I took a deep breath and clicked on Continue, it then restored my phone to factory settings. It then allowed me to use the most recent backup from iTunes and has restored everything the way it was. All my photos, contacts, messages, music etc has been restored.

It takes a while to do - I think it was just over an hour in total for me.

You could remove/delete the old backup as it can, on occassions have issues. However, what I always do before an IOS update is to power OFF my iPhone/iPod/iPad so it's starting from a clean slate with any hold-over issues from the numerous apps I run.

Just hold down the Home and the Power button for a few seconds till you see the "Power Off" swipe. Power it down and then start it up again and try your update again.

I have the same issue! This seems rare as I had a hard time finding anyone getting the same error message.

I'm getting the same message with code (-1303).

- Windows 7 x64

- I have an SSD primary and 2 HDDs

- Moved mobilesync backup (iphone backup) from SSD to 1 of the HDDs a few months ago.

I've copied the backup folder to another drive so just in case that one gets deleted, I have another copy.

Come on I know there's a genius out there who has an idea how to resolve this issue!

Ok, another Error here. I've been reading about errors all day but the one that appeared to me now, haven't seen before.

"An error ocurred while backing up this iPhone (-402636788). Would you like to continue to update this iPhone?
Continuing will result in loss of all contents on this iPhone."

Please anyone out there... HELP!
