Delete single photos in photostream

How do I delete one og more pictures from photostream?

I've already found out that I can delete my entire photostream "library".

But it should be possible to mark and delete 1 or more photos.

Does anybody know how to do that?

If it's not possible: APPLE pls. fix it 🙂

Thanks

It is kind of lame that individual photos can not be deleted from PhotoStream and that you have to deleted everything and start from scratch. Best thing we can all do is call Apple support and ask the question, "How can I delete individual photos from PhotoStream". You already know the answer but the more calls they get the better the likelihood that the problem will be addressed and patch will be issued in the next update.

We are not the wounded ones. Apple is, most likely by moles from MS in the Apple software developement department. I wish I were wrong. I wish it is only the programmers from the 80's generation and their girl friends who will soon out grow their me only not my job attitude and return to working hard to uphold the professional attitude of their fore fathers and match the excellence of those who started the whole Apple era.

Happy New Year. Wake up and smell the coffee. Do a few small things excellently (like just add a delete? button to photostream; fix iPhoto lost connection; fix the space titles so they are right...) instead of doing a lot of big things poorly (like Lion, iCloud...)

Hey I just updated my iphone and ipad to IOS5 and activated "iCloud" against my better judgement...

first thing I did: Took a couple of photos just to test out photo stream

second thing I did: Tried to delete one of those photos.

I looked for over an hour for the delete option before giving up and searching the net for instructions on how to do it. I found some forum threads from October with people asking the same thing and replies from Apple Fanboys saying "oh don't worry, it'll be there in the next release".

3 months later and you still can't delete individual photos from the cloud, and even deleting all photos is extremely problematic and they *might* come back to haunt you!

I literally can't beleive how crappy Apple are now Jobs is gone, he would never have allowed this.

Actually here is the step by step from Apple:

How do I delete photos from my Photo Stream in iCloud?

Individual photos cannot be deleted from your Photo Stream. You can, however, delete all the photos in your Photo Stream by clicking the Reset Photo Stream button in your account at icloud.com. The Reset Photo Stream button will instantly delete all Photo Stream photos stored in iCloud, but it will not remove any Photo Stream photos that have already been pushed to your devices.

How do I delete photos from my Photo Stream on my devices?

After deleting the photos from your Photo Stream in iCloud, you can remove the Photo Stream photos from your devices as follows:

On your iOS devices, go to Settings > iCloud > Photo Stream and turn Photo Stream off. This will delete all the photos from your Photo Stream album. If there are any photos you want to keep on your device, make sure to add them to an album or save them to your Camera Roll first.

Well congrats captain obvious, you truly are a "Genius"...

Anyone who had read any of the last eighteen pages of this thread would already know that you "can" delete all photos from photostream (in fact, nothing is deleted, all you are doing is moving the sync point, but it has the desired effect of making the photos go away...).

That is not the point. This thread is about delting INDIVIDUAL photos from the stream which still, even after an IOS update, cannot be done. This makes me think this appalling omission is by design rather than a mistake.

Over Christmas I actually set up Apple TV in our media room on a nice big 42 inch TV wall mounted It would have been great to have images being displayed while playing music through the surround sound system.

I have been critical of this bad design in previous postings and that was just using my PC iPhone and iPad but god it does not become as glarinlgly obvious how bad this "Feature" (and I use the word lightly) is until you use Apple TV with it I had 100's of bad images coming through and dozens of shots of ink cartridges and printers (my work) etc all intermingled with some quality shots of Lake District hills and familiy portraits....

Looking back at the suggestions from others ( about 20 of them repeated) about turning of PS to delete them (yes we know how to do this) it just highlights how BAD this feature is

I think the best posting on here is this one from "Sungyle" where he states

"Wake up and smell the coffee. Do a few small things excellently (like just add a delete? button to photostream; fix iPhoto lost connection; fix the space titles so they are right...) instead of doing a lot of big things poorly (like Lion, iCloud...)"

How right he is to me in Apples race to be seen as the innovater they are relying on their marketing machine to convince people to buy Apple rather than actually making everything work right in the first place....

I am hoping this was down to mr Jobbs pushing too hard and that now he has (sadly) gone they will take this year to put evertything right (please can we have collapsable folders on mail accounts)

Longtime PC user on my very first mac, purchased just yesterday. First rant on the forum.

I can't believe I just transferred a couple of horrid test images earlier which I now essentially have no control over. I spent the next 15 minutes or so trying to figure out how to delete the bloody things. Surely, it had to be possible somehow... they're my own files, I put them there. Well, it's pretty sad when you consider yourself quite computer/tech savvy, yet you end up throwing in the towel and have to google for a way to delete a file from a computer.

Resetting or deleting the entire photostream through icloud isn't a solution, neither are the various suggestions such as turning off wifi or what not. There's no excuse, really... the inability to delete one of your very own files is baffling for multiple reasons.

It's funny to see a lot of comments with regards to Apple TV in relation to this issue as I was considering picking up an Apple TV box tomorrow as well. Not anymore... not just yet, anyway. I'll wait and see what other surprises Apple has in store for me first. As for photostream, what I thought was going to be a cool feature is now turned off.

I've always been told Macs "just work" so bizarre little quirks like this are kind of disappointing.

Like you, I'm a PC guy, 32 years in fact. Got my first iPhone two years ago and love it. Bought an iPad for Xmas and that's went I started using iCloud to sync the two. The photo deletion problem is the only one I've hit with iCloud. And the only other real bug I've hit is the fact the photos come through upside down once they leave the Apple environment. Try it, take four photo, each one with the iPhone in a different orinantation and then email them to your PC. You will see them all right-side up in the email before you send it and three will be different when you receive it. Here's a link to the thread on that subject: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3431867?start=0&tstart=0

If you go to icloud on your computer and turn off photostreaming it will give you an option to go to the folder the pictures are in. then you can delete the pictures you want and if you wish you can turn photostreaming back on. make sure to reset your iphone/ipad/ipod touch. otherwise it won't take effect. if anything turn it off while doing this on the computer. I hope it helps. it worked for me.

I went to iCloud on my computer and while it is a very nice looking website, there are only 5 options there:

Mail, Contacts Calendar, Find my Phone and "iWork".

No option to do anything with photostream other than reset it in "Advanced" when I click on my name...

PS I only use Windows computers, I presume there must be an iCloud app on the Mac which you are referring to which has the feature to delete photos.
