Delete single photos in photostream

So I was having the same problem....

I did not find a way to delete the one photograph from my actual mac laptop photo stream, but I was able to go on my iPhone photo stream and delete it from there. All you do is go in your photos app and tap the photo stream option, tap the unwanted picture, and tap the trash can. It will delete the photo and automatically update on your computer.

It sounds so simple but literally took me 2 hours to figure that out! Its pretty ridiculous there isn't away to delete it through your computer.

I appreciate your response to my iphone/delete issue. However, something is definitely wrong since I have tried that and nothing seems to work. When I delete photos from my photostream, they get deleted, but NOT on my computer. (IMac)...I even get a notification on the iphone when I want to delete a photo, telling me that this photo "will be removed from all my devices", (which is what I want), but remains on the computer. If I try to delete from photostream on the computer, it won't let me do that. I even checked my Trash on the computer, and the photos I deleted from my iphone are in the trash in the computer, but still remain in the photostream on computer! Very frustrating. I will have to call Apple and have them walk me through this. I think something must be wrong with my calibration or something. I am not technically savvy, so maybe I am the problem .

This has been going on since Apple introduced photostream. It seems to me that we are now suffering from Apples "spaghetti programming", i.e. code that has become tangled and over-complicated. We all want a simple function on all (linked) apple devices that simply allows the user to delete any photo on any device even if this is not synchronised across all device. C'mon Apple - do something simple to help us poor users!...

...so maybe this is not just me? Will it help if I call Apple directly? I will try. Thanks for your response.

I have been reading all the comments regarding this issue, and there is one question that seems plain enough to address: When I go to delete a photo from my photostream on my cell phone - which is easy enough to do - I get the message: "this photo will be removed from photostream on all your devices." And I say, "YES! This is what I want!" But it only removes the photo from my iphone and NOT computer! (Imac)! There should be some solution to this.

I opened iTunes, Devices, iphone then clicked Photos then Selected photos. unticked all the boxes then I synced. Opened iPhoto, deleted all the photos I disliked in the Last 12 Months. Then I turned off Photo stream on my macbook. Then went back into iTunes, clicked Sync Photos from iPhoto, and All Photos, Albums, Events and Faces. After Syncing again, all was good. Though, I am sure they are still in iCloud, they are not on my devices.

Not a solution to the real problem, but at least when people are going through my photos, all the blurry shots and numerous unwanted Screen Shots have been removed.

THIS WORKS: (well in October 2013 it does...)

I just deleted photos from my photostream directly on my iPhone, then on my computer, I disabled photostream, clearing it, then enabled it again : which then loaded only the photos in the stream on my iPhone.

• iPhone: photos > My Photostream > select > (tap any photos you want to delete > trash can
• In iPhoto, go to preferences > photostream> and uncheck 'enable photo stream, the re-enable it.

That is not a solution for all scenarios, we have a special scenario in which we enabled our photostream on one mac, and uploaded photos with it as far back as October 12th, 2013. That mac has since moved on, and now we have a new mac; this new mac when you view PhotoStream will only reach as far back as October 21, 2013 even though we have older photos, thus we are stuck with those photos until they expire.

We have the all the boxes checked for iPhoto > Preferences > Photo Stream, which includes the upload and store the last 30 days of your photos on iCloud and download them to all of your devices, as well as the Automatic Import setting.

One would think this would actually download the last 30 days of our Photo Stream, instead it clearly says on the header of iPhoto: My Photo Stream (October 21, 2013 - Nov 8, 2013). Our Apple TVs still show the photos in Photo Stream past October 21 (from the last 30 days). We would like to delete some photos pertaining to expired events, but simply can't get the to appear in iPhoto.

Got more ideas? I'm stuck.

We are able to delete photos as well - The problem is; When using Photostream from the Album, the trash can option is not grayed in and not available. All this information is still not helping.

How to mass delete camera roll photos in 3 clicks
1. Connect your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to your Mac;
2. Open the Image Capture;
3. Select all the photos (Command + A), and click the delete button. [It's the "red" bottom at the bottom of the Image Capture screen.]

Any hd video can be deleted easily. It can be done on the unit's apps as well.
