How to remove Newsstand from iPhone?

I get it -- it's a "folder" so we can't put it in t another folder, thereby getting it out of the way. But I won't be using it (just like I don't use Gamecenter), and I resent having it take up space at the top level nav. Fail.

So how do we remove Newsstand from the iphone (or other ios5 device)?

I don't think I said it was "terrible", that's a mis-quote, only that it is annoying 🙂

BTW, there are many more injustices and wrongs in the world to be offended by, other than my petty gripe....but I'll let that lie as that area is well and truly off topic.

I do like Facetime if that helps placate the Apple cosegenti that I seem to have riled...

I'm sorry, but can anybody give me a good, rational reason as to why the user should not be able to hide Newsstand?

Because some are calling those who want to "immature" and inferring negative things about them on a personal level. Yet, when it comes down to it, the ones they attack are in the right. They should be able to actually hide Newsstand (not just push it off to a different screen), so any attack on their request to do so is uncalled for.

As is the request that Apple should shut this thread down. People are annoyed by this issue. And even though they can privately notify Apple about it (and I'm sure many have), they also want to publicly vent a little. And I shouldn't have to defend that - freedom of speech, free market of ideas, et cetera. Besides, if this thread's existence annoys them, perhaps they can take their own advice and "just not look at it". :p

Sure, this isn't an important issue by any means, but that isn't the point. The point is user experience. What is inconsequential to one person might be meaningfully to another.

Anybody who wants to hide Newsstand (in a real way) should be able to do so. They are in the right. So unless someone can come up with good, solid and rational reasons as to why the user should be barred from hiding Newsstand, maybe they should lay off the attacks.

I already did file feedback. But thanks for the link all the same.

And I agree, no company is perfect, and I hope they fix this stupidly innocuous (yet somehow still incredibly annoying) issue.

I was mostly writing cause I thought the personal attacks were uncalled for. Especially given that those people are logically on the wrong side of the issue.

WE can't do anything about it. WE already said it isn't possible. Whining to US does nothing more than annoy us. If people would complain to Apple, and not US, WE wouldn't get annoyed. WE don't work for Apple. WE're merely users, just like you...

(when I said users there, I saw myself looking into a computer and Tron like stuff going on inside. lol.)

Really? Wow, how fascist.

No. Most people here actually have questions or answers to post here and like being productive.

forcing me off the thread doesn't change that fact.

If you have something productive to post, you're more than welcome. But that is not really my decision.

But you all know that I'm right

No. Again, you are letting it bother you. Most people either use it, ignore it, or move it. You have chosen not to do any of those.
