So does the Reminders app sync with anything?

Do to do items set in the Reminders app sync with iCal in MobileMe? Or do they sync with iCal in iCloud? Or do they not sync with anything?

No, of course not. Getting that agitated over a cell phone would be silly. There are other options for handling your information, syncing it between your iPhone and your computer. You don't have to use iCloud.

Exactly...a couple of months into iCloud the majority of Mac power users are not syncing via iCloud bit the good old secure wired way through iTunes

Please cite the source of that statistic.

I've never synced my contacts or calender through iTunes with a wire. I use Google Calendar and have been syncing wirelessly for years. I email document or use Dropbox. If I weren't already using a wireless solution, I'd switch to iCloud but, I'm lazy. And if hackers want to know what time I have to be at work or when my dentist appointment is or that I really should schedule my car inspection, I don't really care.

No; to sync Reminders with iCal you *do* have to use iCloud. I'm not sure if you've read the rest of this thread, but that's what I and others are upset about. If you've found a way to sync Reminders over USB, please let us know how it works. Thanks!

I said there are other ways to sync information that don't involve iCloud. The specific poster to whom I was replying seemed to be having a general rant about Apple controlling his fiiles. My response was only to that post.

Add my voice to the chorus that despises Apple's behavior in this regard. It's my data; it's private; it's sensitive; it's mine. I never want it touching anyone else's server. Apple's choice to remove functionality that allows me to keep my data private is fiercely anti-consumer.

No assurances that "we'll keep it safe" can suffice, because Apple doesn't have the power to promise that -- nobody does.

I believe most of us agree that we should have some choice here. It you want your life posted in the cloud allgood. If you don't, enableing a good old-fashioned usb sync is not much of a feat.

Many, if not most, users of Apple products use them because of the simplicity. We expect that SYNC will sync ALL of our data(within reason) A few more bytes of reminder data is no big thing during a sync. Apple, like many corporations trying to push a new technology, is just makeing it unconvienient for users to sync their reminder data any other way.

Until reminders is FULLY functional, as in USB syncable like all the rest of my data, I'll put it where all useless apps go to die.
