If you go into the prefrences in Aperture there is a checkbox that allows scrolling in the viewer. I am not to sure what else isnt working for you. I will be glad to try to help
makes no difference.
i have a split view. formerly, i could use the scroll wheel on my trackball to move through the browser strip on the bottom of the split. after this update, i can no longer do that.
the scroll wheel still works when moving through the library pane.
everything else is fine.
I'm sorry I can not help. I have a trackpad and it works ok for me.
Check with your trackball mfr to see that you have the most up-to-date drivers and if they are coming out with a new one.
I've got the same problem since I've upgraded to 3.2. I can'y scroll on the bottom browser
i am not alone!!!

what kind do you have floydstyle? i have a kensington expert mouse.
doubt they will be updating drivers on this puppy. it is pretty old, but i like it better than anything i have used.
Same exact problem with my Microsoft Explorer Mouse. Worked perfectly in the old version. Works great on everything else in Lion. Aperture 3.2...no go.
Stinks BAD as I am a professional photog and trying to edit now takes much longer.
Just now updated to 3.2
Sideways thumb scrolling is broken in split view.
SL 10.6.8, Wacom wireless mouse.
I can scroll through the library (vertically) just fine, but in split view I can not scroll through the images (horizontally) when using my mouse. Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000.
I encourage everyone to send feedback to apple on this issue (can be done from within app).
I had the same problem with my Logitech LX3 mouse. I installed the new driver and it works fine now.
Apple changed the way the horizontal "film strip" is scrolled from vertical to horizontal. I use a Griffin PowerMate and I had to change the scroll direction from up/down to left/right. I guess this was done due to the trackpad thing in Lion. It's the "normal" behaviour of a horizontal scrollbar. I think it is the same reason why the way of cropping images has changed, too. I don't like it either and I'm currently trying to revert to Aperture 3.1.3. Aperture 3.2 is nothing more than a very crappy beta-version.
Same problem here! I hope apple releases a fix for this issue. I can't understand the reasoning for removing a feature as fundamental as scrolling after all this time.
Please apple, fix this!
If this is now "normal" then I finally have an excuse to try Adobe Lightroom. I have been wanting to try it but just didin't have a reason since Aperture was fine for me. But...the scrolling was an integral part of my editing.
Hmmm...$89 for the education version of Lightroom might worth a shot?
The scrolling feature has not been removed, it's behaviour has changed. Like a lot of other things... All of them together making Aperture 3.2 a terrible update! I Guess that's all due to Lion and the Trackpad-functions under Lion. Those, who still use Snow Leopard and don't have an all-new glass-surface-trackpad-mac-book shall buy new computers or that external bluetooth-trackpad from the Apple Store and update OS X to 10.7. They know how to make money!
Switching to another software seems to be an option, but for now I've switched back to 3.1.3. Here you can find the way I managed it:

Maybe this is another option for you...
