Issue with iCloud and PC Outlook 2007 Contacts

Hey,

So I finally managed to update to iOS 5, and it's fun playing around and learning the new things, but I already got issues. Minor, but still a nuissance.

Once synced, My Outlook Calendar became duplicated, and with the slide down tab started showing double notifications.

My bigger issue is with how it's syncing with the Contacts. It emptied the Main Contact folder into an iCloud Contact folder; fine. However, the Contact Cards would sync perfectly with the original Outlook Calendar, insterting birthdays and everything. Now, any NEW birthday that I try to add to a new contact, it won't show up on the iCloud calendar, without selecting "show birthdays". I find this redundant since it now makes double birthday reminders when for those already saved from before the iOS upgrade.

Why is this happening? Why can't I just continue using the Outlook Contact cards the same way, and have them load the same way? Why can't I just add them to the iPhone contact slot, and have them show up WITHOUT selecting the birthday calendar?

Thanks.

At least found a solution to this! In my case the icloud add in was disabled and not working. When I'd enable the add in it'd remained disabled. Here's what worked for me:

1. Run Outlook as administrator(Hit Ctrl,Alt, Shift and right click)

2. Go to Tools<Trust Center< Add Ins, you should see the icloud outlooks admin probably under disabled. Hit the go button at the bottom.
3. Try enabling the add in, close and reopen the trust center and check if this add in is still disabled. If so hit the go button again.

4. Hit the remove button for the icloud outlook addin, then hit add and add the file back in, should be found at:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Internet Services, the file is APLZOD32.dll

After this the add in was enabled and a icloud tool bar appeared in my outlook. Once done refreshing I had everything synced. You may have to restart outlook.

I have seen a ton of artical's on this and Apple has not addressed this issue on anything I have read. Typical I suppose
