iCal Duplicates With iCloud

I just set up iCloud with my Mac and it unfortunately duplicated everything in my iCal database -- it looks like it even duplicated the calendar categories and picked random colors for them. Is this happening for anyone else? How can I fix this?

My iPhone and iPad are syncing just fine. They contain all my appointments since before I upgraded. But my iMac's iCal is now blank -- except that when I add new events on my iPhone, they immediatedly appear on my iMac. My iMac isn't syncing any of the events that were originally on my iDevices. When I go to iCloud.com, the calendar there is empty as well. iCloud doesn't seem to be accepting the events that were on my iPhone before I upgraded the OS.

I had horrific problems & spent many hours trying to untangle the mess, read and tried the suggested fixes and finally went to Apple Genius desk, they had no solutions... Finally I found the only thing worked was to DELETE iCloud from the various devices... THIS NOT EASY... It is embedded everywhere... Will take a couple of hours... When I finally eradicated it, my calendars and address books works great with no problems... It will be a while before I try iCloud again... It is Mobile Me with a new name... Sad to say...
