Duplicate TV Shows on iOS 5 devices

Hi,

How can I fix/remove duplicate TV Shows when browsing from iOS 5 device (iPhone 4 and iPad) to Mac (iTunes 10.5)? Has anybody experienced it? Home Sharing works great for music and movies, except for album covers that occasionally get mixed up, but it's really bad when it comes to TV Shows. They look OK on the Mac, but there are lot's of duplicates on iOS devices.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

After upgrading to iOS5, I was having the same issue for my TV shows and have resolved it by cleaning up sorting. I think this has to do with shows and seasons within them not having uniform sorting settings- which seems to confuse the iPad and IPhone. It took a little bit of time, but I removed all sorting on the shows EXCEPT "sort by show" and "sort by album" (where album is "Season 1" or "Season 2", etc). To save some time, you can select all shows within a season and assign the album name and sort preferences.

I also discovered the sorting on the iPhone and iPad want to default to the name of the episode (if episode ID - not track number - is blank). So, I went through and input episode IDs and now my shows group by show, then season, then sort by episode ID - just like we've been accostomed to until upgrading to iOS5.

Now on to figure out why my personal hotspot and wifi isn't working like it used to...

I found the only way to fix this is to give each individual show a unique episode ID. As I was changing this in iTunes with my iPad sat next to me on the Home Sharing app, I could see the shows re-ordering themselves and the artwork fixing itself.

Bit of a ballache to do this manually but worth it to get the functionality back.

This has to be an iOS5 thing - irritating!

Go tommy, not sure why it works, but I was having the same problem in iOS 6. I signed out of homesharing in the settings>>video, checked my video library, and let it clear, did a hard restart, checked videos again ( I suspect you could skip this step), then logged back in under settings>>videosm then went back to videos. It took a few minutes for everything to sync, but now all TV episodes are pretty much as they should be. Maybe a mixed up "album cover" here and there, but that I can live with.
