I was having the same issue but to fix it all I did was change one thing in Find My Friends.

I went into Find my Friends, hit "Me" on the bottom status bar, hit "Account" in the upper right hand corner, then I looked under the "Notifications" and saw that the "Send As" email was different than my primary Apple ID. So I changed the "Send As" email to my primary ID and i was able to send requests! Hope this helps!

The issue I am having is the find my frinds app forces you to use an email address to log in. When I do that it says the apple ID has not been verified.

I signed up for .mac years ago and have been able to just log in to the app store and game center with username not username@mac.com. Also all my gamecenter achievements and friend are linked to username log in. If I log in with username@mac.com to either the app store or gamecenter I do not have access to my prior app store purchase or gamcenter friends. My question is if any of you have change your apple id from username to username@mac.comin order to allow find my friends to work and still have access to your prior purchases and gamecenter friends and achievements?

I have been using the app on my iPhone 4 since it's release. I recently purchased an iPad 2 and installed the app on it as well. Then a few days ago when trying to add a new friend I received the following error message...

"Cannot Connect to Find My Friends

Verify your Apple ID at https://appleid.apple.com to use Find My Friends."

My Apple ID is verified. When I follow the link and log in, I am not promted with any changes. This must be a glitch on Apple's server. I have been a primary .Mac - MobileMe - iCloud user for over 10 years now with the same Apple ID. All of my other iCloud applications are working just fine.

I have deleted and reinstalled the app on both devices with no results. There has been a lot of buzz about new iOS features in the works for Find My Friends as well as a new desktop "Mountain Lion" verison of the app in development. Maybe that's why it is being glitchy right now. There have also been some privacy debates. Maybe Apple is discreetly handeling a legal issue and temporarliy limiting use of the app.

I too had the dialogue box was telling me that my .mac email wasn't verified with my AppleID (which is my AppleID) because of that, I couldn't verify it, as that was the account itself...

Anyway, I went into the Find Friends Account Settings and selected my personal email address (which is my first alternative email address in my Apple ID settings) as the account to send Notifications from and that fixed it.
