Mine too. it took forever to backup and update my ipod touch 4g to the new ios 5. But everything seems sluggish after that. The touch screen experience seems to be a bit jittery and there are noticeable pauses when loading apps. Is this just my ipod or is ios5 just not up to the mark?

i guess primarily apply concentrated on ios 5 for iphone n ipad. both have A5 n 512mb ram. i believe, ipod touch is no more the focus of apple. thats y, there is no new updates on 2011 for ipod touch.

    Yes I mean ***, I just bought a new €289,- iPod 4 and it's slow as **** on ios 5.0!

Im actually using my 2g ipod again, because my 4g is extremely slow, laggy and apps crash all the time.

When I look at the RAM-usage, I see that the both 2g and 4g have only 250MB RAM.

And when Im doing nothing, just background apps, it uses 95% of that.

Apple, you dissapoint me very much.

normally enthousiastic but now an angry customer.

I am having the same problem with my ipod touch 4G.  I agree that it's probably sluggish because the OS was developed for A5 enabled devices.  I would like to downgrade back to 4.3 but I'm sure the apps are gonna be specifically designed for iOS 5 now...

Same issues on my 4G, sad times

This says the 2G only has 128 MB of ram.

mine is absolutely fine. when i installed ios 5 on my ipod touch 4g i just did a fresh restore. i think its a good thing to do that. it normally speeds things up. my ipod touch 4g was very sluggish on ios 4.3 and when i did a restore everything was back at full speed.

  • vinny1991 Level 1 (10 points)

    Restore doesnt help.

The problem is, what others already said, that ios 5.0 is too heavy to handle for ipod 4g.

Even when im typing this i lagg a little.

I dont think apple intended to make the best selling ipod a slow annoying device.

So they will figure something out if they kniw our problems.

    I hope soon.

did u do a Fresh Restore? and dont restore it from a backup, restore it as new ipod? if that doesnt help try turning off bluetooth (bluetooth is enabled by default), delete background apps (double click home for multitask, hold an app to delete it in the bar), clear safari cache, browsing history ect, untick everything in spotlight search (everything is ticked by default)

Settings > General > Spotlight Search, Even Rebooting can help.

iOS 5 has been in beta testing since jun-july i believe. it didnt just release only with a5. the ios is optimized for each device, if it wasnt there would only be one ipsw file to download that would work for all iDevices. but there is one ipsw for each iDevice because they are all slightly different in hardware. My iPod Touch 4g can handle Infinity blade and still run smoothly and its on ios 5. Your thinking it wrong that it is only good for A5.

AAAARGH! My iPod is going incredibly slow since I upgraded to iOS 5. I hate it. Apps crash, when I swipe on the home screen the apps move to the side all herky-jerky, things don't open up nice and smoothly like folders, etc. They open kinda herky-jerky (if you know what I mean, it's just not smooth and fluid movement.) It's annoying!!!

    I know man!

    Having exact the same problems.

The device is great, but the software is full of bugs.

If this doesnt get fixed soon, im gonna return my iPod.

Can anyone confirm that apple is aware of this problem which affects alot of people!?

And that they are working on it?
