I forgot about this. I thought it worked for me, but nah. I made the switch to apple about a year ago. Own an imac, iphone and ipad. I can say that i wish i hadnt made that move. You go on microsoft forums, ask a question or ask for a fix, a microsoft tech follows it up in the most detailed answer possible. I'm not starting an apple vs microsoft debate, but microsoft offer better support and way more solid os'. This is such a simple fix and apple either doesn't want to fix it for whatever reason, or they just don't read these forums. Very disappointing to say the least. I dont care about how a device looks or feels if its manufacturer can't keep up with simple fix requests.

    *rant*

    Yay...iOS 6 out soon.

Maybe they'll fix this fault in that release.

Just have to wait and see I guess.

Well iOS 6.0 is now out and I've applied it but STILL no fix for this fault.

This is getting to be something pathological with me now... it needs to be corrected urgently.

Granted, it's not life threatening but it is really annoying for those of us who have to put up with it, and it should be a very simple fix.

    Apple, PLEASE fix it now!

I can't beleive with the raft of new features and improvements that with iOS 6 that they haven't rectified this issue.

What is going on? Can anyone from Apple care to elaborate? It's very fustrating.

I agree with all of you. I live in Dublin. After the recent upgrade my iphone 4 calendar starts on Sunday. Changing icloud settings makes no difference. The ipad is fine.

Changing to the UK in international settings on the phone cures the start date but brings other problems - e.g. google.uk becomes the default search engine rather than google.ie and there may be others.

Is the population of Ireland too small to interest the people who write the software?

Please flick a switch and change the default setting for Ireland.

PS. I see I left a similar request on this website in January 2010 when the start date was wrong - that was sorted - hope this will be too!

Well... iOS 6.0.1 is out and I have just applied it hoping that this long ongoing Calendar start day issue might have been fixed finally.

    NO IT HASN'T... STILL!!!

I guess yet another Feedback note is necessary.

It would be really good if an official from Apple actually provided some response to this forum or feedback requests.

The region choice also determines the default currency symbol (£ rather than € in this case) in the .?123 keyboard.

Yes, this really irks me. Back with the first release of iOS 5 (and 4) the first day of the month for Australia was Monday. Then for some unkown and unexplained reason Apple changes it to Sunday with no option to change it back to Monday! Maybe this was the work of Scott Forstall?! :-P

Why can't we just customize things how we like them? Is it so hard? Same issues with services on Google (i.e., forcing Standard units on users in USA who want to use metric, forcing Scandinavians to use comma instead of decimal point for numbers, this First-Day-Of-The-Week thing, etc).

Please fix this Apple! And also, bring back StreetView, Bicycle routing, and Public Transportation routing on Maps!!!

There is a great new calendar replacement app Fantastical lets you choose between Sunday and Monday for first day of the week. Now why can't Apple do it in Calendar?

    Yay!!!

Loaded up iOS7 on my Mini and FINALLY we have an option to set the start day in Calendar!

Still checking through all the other settings to see what else has changed - good or bad - but looks OK at this eary stage.

That's excellent news but I can't see a similar option for the iPhone. If anyone finds it, please post how it's done.

Yes it's great news, one of the best things about ios7!

Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars, scroll down to Calendars -> Start week on

  • rjshaydon Level 1 (0 points)

Yes, of course. It's been so long since I checked, I'd forgotten the settings were there! Thank you very much. This makes life so much easier! I just bought a new iPhone 5S so it's a good day!

    Try this :

    1. Go to Settings.

    2. Tap on - Mail, Contacts, Calendars.

    3. Scroll down until you see the option - Start Week On and set your preference.
