Aperture 3.2 upgrade (from 3.1.3) crash continuously

Upgraded today from Aperture 3.1.3 to 3.2 and running a small test on a library of 10 Canon CR2 Raw images, but having Aperture 3.2 crash from the start.

I have repaired permissions, repaired database, rebuild database, created a new library etc. and nothing seems to help!

Yes, even tried a blank brand new library created in Aperture 3.2 - no luck. Can not do anything - sometimes I might even get to open an image full screen before it crash...?

As per usual I do not get a response from Apple so will try getting rid of Nik Software plugins and BorderFX, but this is going rapidly in the same direction as Adobe software experience for me.

Regards

"Again not a happy customer after an upgrade...???"

BTW: Running on iMac with OS 10.6.8 and all the latest patches installed

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8), iMac Core Duo 2006

Can't blame you for waiting. Also thank you for your insight, and patience on my behalf. This was episode was my first real crash issue on a computer containing Photographs that go back 15, 20 years. I still wince when bringing up images, but since 3.2.1 its working better. Would have liked to hae been a fly on the wall to know what the culprit was.

I am still having issues. My plugins will not work. Specifically the NIK software suite. i have talked directly to NIK and they recomended the standard "uninstall and reinstall" route. did that with EVERYTHING including aperture.

Then I ran updater and Aperture will still crash every single time you grab an image and attempt an edit with the plugin. i have tried with all of them . color efex, viveza, sharpener etc.

Am i the only one having this issue?

I have work in the pipeline that i can not finish untill this issue is resolved.

2.5GHz Core 2 Duo Aperture 3.2.1 with all the current RAW updates. Shooting Exclusively in RAW.

Yes this thread does pertain because when I originally posted I was having some of the same issues. Now that PART of the issue has been addressed i am still trying to find out if anyone else on here uses NIK plugins or ANY other third party plugins that are STILL causing it to crash.

My Silver efex pro 2 for Aperture is working, well at least what adjustment I have used.. However, before the 3.2.1 update crashing problem... Nik sent me an email and I had to uninstall and download and reinstall the plug-in to fix bugs they were having at that time.. Happy to say.. everything is working fine so far... for me it's time to start backing up with time machine, when I find out how to use it and where I should back up to..

So today, everything going slowly for some reason. From the initial Aperture entry, to bringing up adjustments inspector. Slowww. I reported after the 3.2.1 update that I experienced a true icrease in responsiveness. Even updating the vault was slow. Hmmm? Don't know what could be contributing to this. I haven't deviated from my usual path, or disrupted anything I know of. Is there a usual. "go to", to provide a clean operating condition?

Aperture is driving me crazy. Everytime I launch, it begins working on something and freezes. Activity monitor shows that it starts processing images (for whatever reason) and gets stuck.

I've tried everything to resolve this:

- repaired permissions

- repaired library

- restored library

- deleted user prefs

- re-installed aperture

- restarted mac

- repaired permissions on hard drives

- ..

Right now, I can't even acess my photos, but I have to work with them right now.. I'm very disappointed and now realize how much I'm tied to that application. Think I want to go back to Finder & Folders, but even that is a problem...

edit: forgot to note my specs: Aprture 3.2.1 / OSX Lion / Mac Pro (early 2008)

Is Aperture slow? yes then read on. Form a older post about restoring Aperture 3.1 and an even older google on speeding up Ap, do:

Delete all /Library/Caches/com.apple.*

Delete ~/username/Library/Cashes/com.apple.Aperture

Delete ~/username/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Aperture.plist

I like to do a reboot at this point.

Apart from deleting the com.apple.Aperture.plist(that will reset all your settings so you may not want to do this step) the only thing I noticed was Aperture running faster. Depending on how much work you do in Aperture you may want to do this once every 3 mouths or so.

Deleteing Caches dose no harm to the system exp it may slow the first re-boot after it's done.

I'm posting here because I'm sure if this is a related issue or not.... But Aperture is working really slow..... making and toggling adjustments is like watching paint dry.... I only have a little more then 5000 images on an external drive with only about half the space used? Any help in clearing something ( I thought I saw this somewhere, just sure where) or even if I should look on another thread.. Thanks so very much for any help in advance.. Yes, I do have Christmas creation that I'm working on as usual it's a time sensitive matter lol
