Aperture 3.2 upgrade (from 3.1.3) crash continuously

Thanks frej. Im trying to restore my library from a vault on external drive onto an old macbook. Going very slow but think it should work.

I am having the same issue on both a MBP1.1 and a Core Solo MacMini.

In my case I've got work to do, so I'm off to buy another MBP this afternoon.

Thank you so much for this detective work! I used my time machine backup on the app and library to 3.1.3 And I'm back up and running! (MBP 17" Original Core Duo 2.16 2GB)

Just come back from a job and tried to import images from my Canon 5D Mk2 and it crashes - so great to see all of your comments and the fix. I have a core duo 17 inch macbook pro so will downgrade and hope for a fix. I was upset I did not get the button for uploading to photo stream, but this is worse! Thanks again for the explanation folks!

iphoto still works! Shame its not good for my RAW work . .

Just restored old version with time machine - but it will not open my libray as it was 'upgraded' amd going to try and restore to Tuesdays version .

That works, but its over 40 gigs so takes a time. It shows you need to think twice about upgrades when you are working. Thank god for time machine.

I'm having the same problem, I just upgraded today.. only problme with me is.... I am not a computer expert nor do I have to money to hire one... all my images are being held prisinor.... What are my choices?? I need to get to my images asap... Is there any hope for me?

I just called Apple and of course they wanted to charge me to deal with this issue.. How can I get to my images? All the Image I have ever shot are on external hard drives in an aperture library... If anyone can give me a step by step to deal with this I would appreciate it very much

Getting your images Back

First and foremost, I believe Apple will fix this bug and restore functionality and your images have not been lost!

Easy Way:

Open your Aperture Library from a non-Core Duo computer with Aperture on it.

The hard way:

Right-Click the Aperture Library and select "Show Package Contents" from the drop-down.

(Make no changes inside the library! only make new copies of what you find!!)

Your images are in a folder called "Masters" and in date based folders from there.

I've got the same problem on my 2006 MBP 1,1.

In ten years, I've never had a problem of this magnitude with following Apple's recommended upgrades. So kudos to Apple on that one. I mean, on MS OSes, this was a weekly occurance.

That said. HEEEEEEEEEEELP!!! MY APERTURE LIBRARY HAS BEEN UPGRADED TO SOMETHING I CAN'T USE. I CAN'T GET TO ANY OF MY PHOTOS! A GUNSHOT TO THE HIP WOULD HAVE BEEN LESS PAINFUL! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!

Okay, okay . . . calming down now.

I figure I can go about a week without access to my entire photographic life. But after that, I'll probably start sprouting multiple personalities and breathing fire. So don't come over the house if they haven't put in a fix or workaround by then. Got it?

Listening, Apple? A little coding goodness would go a long way here. Can you fix me up?

Hmm, I'm having the problem that my time machine backup of my library; all the previews are missing and some things are not "connected" yet my /REAL/ back up doesnt have this problem... any ideas?
