LED flash alert not working.. Updated

iOS 5 LED Flash Alert not working on iPhone 4.. Updated twice & restored. All other new iOS 5 features working... Pattern Vibrate & all... But face down, face up, dark room, feature turned on.. No Go... No groovy flashing LED on email, text, or incoming call...

Yes, it only works when the phone is asleep/locked. If it's not asleep or locked, it means you're already using it, so you will see the banner, so what's the point of flashing the LED, when it might be pointed at someone's eyes?

Please note that even if you have incoming emails set as alerts, emails will NOT flash the LED for some reason. All the other notifications seem to work.

I agree, I prefer it to only do it when locked or asleep. I just wanted to make sure that it was supposed to work that way, since it's been so glitchy so far. As long as it is, im cool with it.

I would like the option to maybe get the led alert for email, although Id probably turn it off. I can see why they didnt include it. Most people get emails very often, it would probably kill the **** out of your battery to have it flash at every email

I just found that turning on custom vibrations in accessibility options made the LED flash alert work in my 4S. I had been trying to get it to work again after having tested it when I first got my phone. The feature must have been switched off during subsequent restores (due to buggy iOS installs).

Furthermore, I've tested the LED alert flash with the camera flash turned off for both video and still cameras. It works fine irrespective of the camera flash settings.

I don't think it makes much sense that you have to turn on custom vibrations in order for the LED flash alert to work. There's no indication anywhere that one is dependent on the other.

Now I can say I have a 'flashy phone' 🙂

OK it has come alive ! yes I saw the flash work, but only if the phone has been face down & asleep for an extended period of time... if I was a betting man, I'd say this feature only works when the phone is down & asleep & there is probably no way to test it properly like any other function or feature.. And the functions limited display may have mislead mosty ( myself included) all that would assume the thing flashes under more easily forced circumstances than it actually does.... In other words, you'd think that you set it to flash & it would flash... but there seems to be more fickle additional circumstances to make the thing go off than you'd think....

Just my 2 cents
