"There was a problem enabling iCloud Backup"

same here, I disabled iCloud backup earlier, and now that I want to re-enable it it's impossible. I systematically get the message: "iCloud backup failed there was a problem enabling icloud backup". That's on an iPod touch 4.

I get the exact same error on my iPhone 4. Tried to enable it after Restoring old apps and music etc. and got the same error you get. Same thing happens when I go through Settings -> iCloud.

yup... same problem on my 3Gs seems like a lot of people are having this problem... i wonder what it is. and hopefully tmrw morning it will be fixed

from what I read when googling the issue the bug is not new, it was already there on beta 6. No idea if that's a server or an iOS issue.

Same problem here with my iPad1. However, it all worked fine with my iPhone4.

Same problem, but with Iphone. Have done back up of Ipad but will not back up Iphone.

I ran into the same error, "iCloud Backup Failed", on both my iPhone 4 and iPad 2. What I did that made it work is in iTunes, I selected "Back up to iCloud" from Devices, under the Summary tab (I had "Back up to this computer" selected earlier), and I had to deselect "Encrypt iPhone backup" (you can skip this if you don't have it selected). After doing this it now works for both devices.

I tried this earlier and it does "enable" it on the iPhone. However if you go into Manage Storage you will see it's all 0 bytes and no way to select apps for backup and no way to do a backup. At least in my case...

Rusty, did you try unplugging your device from itunes and then turning off the icloud backup and turning it back on?

Seems like it comes back with the same problem for me.

@uzagaku yes this works, and that's the only way to re-enable iCloud backup actually. No need to disable encryption, that's only for further local backups. But thanks for pointing out to that iCloud setting in iCloud 😉 .. I should have looked there immediately, obviously. As soon as it's activated there, the setting syncs on iOS. Remains that enabling iCloud backup from iOS should of course be possible, so there's still a huge bug there.

Same here. But atleast those steps of Rusty is the right approach to get to that point
