Music App. In iOS 5 doesn't show Lyrics

Hello everybody. Yesterday I updated my iPad 2 with iOS 5. Now in the Music App the Lyrics don't appear anymore. I'm very disappointed and angry about that. Can anybody please tell me if it is a bug or if this was made intentionally. I hope tat this is a bug because the iOS 5 manual for the iPad (Ipad userguide for ios5 - downloaded from ibooks) shows on page 218 the following: "Display a song’s lyrics

Display the album cover by tapping the thumbnail at the top of the screen. Lyrics appear if you’ve added them to the song using the song’s Info window in iTunes." If it is a bug, when will it be fixed? If it is no bug, then I want to go back to its 4.3.5. Can anybody tell me how that would work?

Best Regards

I just read this thread and see that there are a couple of other app options. I saw the information about Lyrics View and downloaded it earlier today. I think it works well. It actually does take the embedded lyrics from iTunes and displays them on the iPad. It's been around since November, so I don't know why I never saw it before. The only quibbles I have with it are that it doesn't display the title, which the Music app used to do automatically, and when you switch out of the current song it takes you to Songs rather than Artists or Albums, so you have to change to Artists if you want to hear someone else.

It also displays the lyrics with the first lines all the way at the top of the screen, so they are sometimes hard to see behind the semi-transparent progress indicator, but you can make the indicator disappear with a click.

At least there's a workaround until Apple fixes this, assuming that they do.

Lyrics View didn't work well for me. It listed music by song title, there was no way to change that to list by artist or album, and it was difficult to select a song to listen to; often a different one would play than the one highlighted.

Pauser Pro works better but it's still frustrating. I do enjoy being able to see lyrics again, but music is listed alphabetically by song title rather than by artist or album, and there is no preference panel which lets you change that by default. If you want to hear all the songs on a specific album and you select the artist, you get an alphabetized list of his or her songs with a blue cross to the left of each. Clicking All Songs places them on a list, which you can then click on to play a specific song. But you have to put the songs in that list first, and I was unable to make separate lists for each artist; attempts to do so led to them all being placed at the end of the first list.

I was finally able to make up a Playlist using a specific genre on iTunes on my computer, transfer it to my iPad, and then access it through Pauser Pro, but the artists were again mostly mixed up and it took a very long time to rearrange them by artist so I could select one and hear all the songs by one person or group. Of course, after that it continues to the next artist on the list, but at least I don't have to keep fiddling with it while I'm busy doing something else and just trying to enjoy some music.

I contacted the developer about these issues and essentially was told that the app was primarily developed for professionals performing on a stage and that it worked well for that purpose. I'm still not clear on how to create discrete lists in one wished to do that, though.

I frankly don't understand how Lyrics View picks the order of songs to play from a playlist artist, or album. It seems random. But I have had no trouble selecting a playlist, album, artist, etc., and playing the tracks. After you select one song from a list, the option to "Add All Songs" appears. Select that and press "Done", and the songs begin playing while displaying the lyrics, although, again, the order of play is a mystery to me. In the alternative you can select the music you want to play in the Music App, which plays the songs in order, then switch to Lyrics View to view the lyrics. The thing I like most about Lyrics View, compared to the others, is that it only displays the lyrics from the those embedded in the music file and makes no attempt to find lyrics on line. I just wish Apple would address this issue and put the ability to view lyrics back in iOS.

Got your message while starting up iOS6 for the first time.

Still no lyrics, as far as I can tell.

I managed to crash Music.app twice in two minutes using a

method that never failed in iOS5: go to playlists, try to scroll, app freezes,

kill it and restart: app crashes.

Conclusion: still the same piece of garbage after a major software upgrade.

Unbelievable...

(iOS6 seems otherwise OK in my ten minutes of testing)
