I have just purchsed an Iphone 5 and have added Ringtone Maker as an app, I follow all the steps and it has allowed me to put 1 ringtone in the Tones library, which I have synced to my iphone and it works, but for some reason, whenever i try and add anymore to the Tones library, it willn't let me add/drag anything else into the library.

Hello all,

I have also been having a problem syncing a "homemade ringtone" on my iPhone 5 that I got in January. I was really frustrated and tried everything that I saw here, and elsewhere.

What finally worked for me is this:

Nothing that I read anywhere said anything about the need to be signed-in to iTunes! You need to be signed in!

In desperation, I started going through all the menus and saw "sign in" and thought "well, what good can that do, but it IS something that I haven't tried......"

Well, as soon as I signed in, all the menus changed, what tabs and checkboxes that had been missing appeared, and I was able to check the box that says "sync ringtones" and as soon as I sync'd, I saw the message in the status window saying my ringtone was loaded! Why you have to be signed in boggles the mind! I only sign in when I'm about to purchase something. I didn't figure I'd need to be signed in just to manage my library!

I sure hope this helps one of my fellow frustrated iPhone owners! I had owned an Android previously, but tried the iPhone because of problems that I'd had with bluetooth music, and the car radio/phone connection. The iPhone didn't fix that problem, but I do like the phone.

Actually what i did was supper easy. If you got a app and made your ringtons and e-mailed them to yourself you just need to do these steps:

1) Go to your e-mail and open the ringtons and save them to your PC on your iTunes folder. (You should have a iTunes folder if iTunes is downloaded onto your PC.

2)Go onto iTunes and click "Tones"

3) Click on the check box right next to where it says "Sync Tones"

4) Then click "Selected Tones" and select the tones you want on the check boxs.

5) Then on the bottom of the page on the right hand side click "Sync" and then it should download.

6) Go on your iPhone and go to settings and click on "Sounds" and then click "Rington" and all the Synced Ringtons that you downloaded and created should be there.

This worked for me, if it won't work for you then.. i dont know :\

Ok, I was very frustrated because I couldn't figure this out either, even though I could do it with my 4S, but I found this and I FINALLY got it to work! The part that I couldn't figure out before that ended up being the missing piece was #4. I had to click "Show Sidebar" under View to get the controls that I needed and that I thought were missing from the iTunes 11 update.

This is for those of you who are having trouble syncing ringtones to your iPhone. You may have created or purchased ringtones, and believe they are in your iTunes library but after syncing they still don't appear on your phone. There are a number of possible reasons for this. Here is a checklist to follow when syncing ringtones to your phone:

  1. Confirm that they really are ringtones: right-click on the files in iTunes, select "Get Info", then verify on the Summary tab they say "Kind: Ringtone". If they don't then you must first convert them to ringtones and import them into your iTunes library before syncing them to your phone. (Guides for how to do this are shown in the References section at the bottom.)
  2. If they are purchased ringtones, confirm that your computer is authorized for the Apple ID(s) used to purchase them (by going to iTunes > Store > Authorize this computer).
  3. Verify that the the ringtones are 40 seconds or less.
  4. Confirm that you have checked "Sync only checked songs and videos" on the Summary tab of your iTunes sync settings.
  5. Confirm that you have checked the box next each of the ringtones that you want to sync to your phone in the Tones folder of your iTunes library. (If you don't see the Tones folder check the Reference section below for how to fix this.)
  6. Confirm that you have checked "Sync Tones" on the Tones tab of your iTunes sync settings. (If you don't see the Tones tab then you haven't yet imported any ringtones into your iTunes library.)

Just did a synch and lost my custom ring. Worked great for the past few years! Under iTunes, Tones - my ringtone is checked. Then when my iPhone is plugged in and I click on the iPhone tab then click on Tones - again it shows my ringtone is checked. But when I click 'on this phone' on the right side then "tones' in the column on the left. No ringtone is there. Mystery #1 (and I do have "Sync all music and videos' checked in my iPhone 5 Summary AND under General Preferences then Sources - Tones is checked.

Mystery #2

Next I just copy paste the original ringtone (And I verified it is a 29-second ringtone file!) into the Tone listed on 'On this phone' to force its way onto my phone. So I see it! BUT when I do a sync then this ringtone disappears!!!!

I checked, synced, unchecked, synced, checked ... ad nauseum. And also rebooted my iPhone 5 - held down the home button and the off switch.

STILL NO CUSTOM TONE! Any ideas out there?

My issue isnt so much what you have but it involves my ringtones . I downloaded ringtones to my 4 when I had one and now have the 5s those same ringtones still work from my 4 and the new ones ive downloaded since my 5s do not work ive tried deleting them re-syncing them turning my phone off after changing my ringtone and nothing is working . Has anyone else had this issue ? Or know how to fix it ? I havnt updated my phone to the 7.1.1 but even after the last update they never worked .. Very frustrating !
