After the 10.5 update and the iOS5 update on my iPhone my ringtones won't sync! Anyone else have this issue?
iPhone 4
I still can't see where the ringtone tab is. You said "Go to iTunes > Devices (iPhone) > Ringtones > uncheck Sync Ringtones" but under devices there's nothing i can see that says ringtones. I'm looking at the left column on itunes with ,, library, store, devices, etc. No ringtones there. I'm using itunes 10.5 on Lion, so maybe this doesn't appear on Lion. Any other suggestions? Thanks.
Yes this does work. Big thanks to all who posted this solution.
Once you click on your device, you'll see the Summary of your iPhone. There are "tabs" - not on the left column but in the top 1/3 of the iTunes application. The 3rd (?? I am not on my computer right now) section within the device is for ringtones.
There is no Ringtones tab to check and uncheck on my copy of iTunes 10.5 - See Image:
I did this and none of my custom ringtones are on my phone when I go and check. I've unchecked them all and synced, then checked them again and synced and I do not have any custom ringtones, just the default ones and the ones I purchased.
Don't uncheck the individual ringtones. Select your iphone from the left hand menu, then select ringtones from the tabs that appear across the top. Then uncheck the main sync ringtones option. You get a warning that all ringtones will be deleted from your device. Select the option that says that's cool and then select 'apply'. Synch your device, re-check the main sync ringtones option again, sync again and they should all be there.
I've done that 5 times and the progress bar says they're being synced to the phone, but they do not show up under Settings, Sounds, Ringtone on my phone. Only the default ringtones are there and the ones I purchased through iTunes, but not my custom ones.
I've double checked that none of them are over 30 seconds, but they're still not showing up. I'm beyond frustrated at this point since I'm doing everything that you all are telling me to do. (and thank you for the instructions, BTW. I do appreciate it, even if the bloody thing isn't cooperating)
Okay, this is what I have done.
This shows that all the ringtones have managed to be dragged to the left side of the menu in iTunes

I then uncheck "Sync Ringtones" and then click the Apply button on the bottom to sync my phone

Then I re-check the "Sync Ringtones" and you can see by the status bar up top that the ringtones are being synced onto my phone.

However, when I go into Settings, Sounds, Ringtone the custom ringtones are not there, just the ones I purchased through iTunes and the default ones. Before the upgrade to ios 5, they worked perfectly. Now, not so much.
this work for me what i did was install an ringtone maker apps i went to the app and created a ringtone and then i follow whatever you have to do to get the ringtone into your phone..so i went to itunes and transfer the tone and then every ringtones that i had before got syn in hope this help.. sorry for my english is bad lolzzzzzzzzz
Mine does NOT work i tried all of the above no go.. Apple ha to fix it
This did work for me once I downloaded the app you suggested. Thank you and your English is just fine. 🙂
What a PITA!!!
AnitaLynn had the answer. Below the icon of the Apple at the top of the screen it says Summary Apps Ringtones, etc. Click on ringtones. You will then have the option of syncing all or selected ringtones. I went with selected and it worked. Got the ringtones back where they belonged on the iPhone.
I'm having the same problem. My custom tones (the ones i made personally) are syncing just fine. But the ones i bought from iTunes are NOT syncing to my phone and i'm getting REALLY frustrated. I'm about to throw either my Mac or my iPhone against the wall. Someone help! Please!
I went ahead and just re-bought the few that actually mattered to me...but I would like to have the rest of them back on my phone.
I've tried everything that all these people have said worked for them...and still, nothing is working. I've synced my phone about 10 times now but it's not working. Can't we get someone from Apple to fix this? grrrr ðŸ˜
