After the 10.5 update and the iOS5 update on my iPhone my ringtones won't sync! Anyone else have this issue?
iPhone 4
Deleting and adding all my custom ringtones to iTunes and only then to the iPhone worked for me eventually (since iOS5 update i was tryning to figure it).
I selected the duck ringtone while unable to sync my custom ones, justo to remind me to get a way to fix it.
if you want to custom your own rington is first move your file in itunes
->move the rington to Library ->Ringtones ->then move the file from ringtones to your devices ->Ringtones.
and it should be sync into the phone now~
hope this could helps~
Hey all! Still have a 3gs while I'm waiting for my 4s. I updated to the iOS5 last week and was frustrated with my lack of ringtone transfer. Here's what JUST NOW worked for me: I deleted all of my ringtones from my iPhone and then dragged them back over to my iPhone. Worked great. Might not be so great for people that have assigned ringtones for a lot of contacts, but meh.
The un-checking sync and re-checking sync worked a dream, thanks guys this has been driving me nuts all morning!
The ring tones are on my phone, they just don't work when someone calls me even though the ring tone in question is listed on the contact page and exists in iTunes.
I just went to the ringtone folder in iTunes, UNchecked all the ringtones I found on the net free, then synced. I didn't have to re-check them all in the ringtone folder! They reappeared in my Sounds section on my iPhone even though they were all UNchecked in my iTunes library! Weird or what?
"Hey guys...this same thing happened to me when ios4 came out. All I had to do was uncheck all ringtones in iTunes....synced up my phone (clears it out, I guess). Then I went back and rechecked them...synced my phone up again...and they returned. A couple o fdays ago the same thing happened and I did this fix and now it's all there. Hope this helps."
This worked for me nuprin7676 Thank you very much :^)
Thank you One2thTEXAN!!!
I couldn't sync iTune ringtones that were originally purchased from my iphone. After trying everything else in the thread I got to yours and it worked perfectly. Kudos to you! Thanks for the post.
Thanks, nuprin. This worked for me. However, I did have to reattach the ringtones to the people they belonged to. It should have worked in the first place, but this is better than having to purchase them again.
Yup - same glitch with iOS5 ringtones. Tried all sorts of remedies. Then followed 2W15's suggestion from Oct 19 2011 and it worked! 🙂 "I just attempted what was listed above (uncheck all tones, sync, re-check the tones then sync again). My ringtones sync fine now." Thank you 2W15 and preceding folks who found that solution!
None of these solutions are working for me, I have a slightly different problem with my 4S too. Fistly, not all of my custom ring tones would sync to my phone, so i figure ill clear them all out and upload them all from scratch. BUT now a whole load of older ringtones i created and used originally with my old 3gs wont dissapear, i have tried sync ringtones with selected ringtones checked and no ticks next to any of the ringtones, ive tried simply not syncing ringtones, ive even tried deleting all the ringtones from my itunes library and moving my ringtones folder to a new location, still i have a bunch of old tones that i dont want on my phone with no idea as to how to remove them!?
I have an iPhone 4 and the methods of rebooting and the method of unchecking/synch rechecking/sync did not solve my problem. When synching a message comes up that says those ringtone files can't be found. I've also had trouble sending mail, which is a bad thing for my business.
Thank you Alice for explaining this in more detail. I was completely frustrated by not being able to delete the ringtones like so many people were saying to do, but this finally got it to work for me.
For those still having issues: there are two separate Ringtone links on the left side of I-Tunes; one is under Library, the other shows up under Devices when you plug in your Iphone. You have to delete them out of the one under Library; there is no option to delete them in the IPhone one. What I did was delete them from the ringtones folder under the library heading, then went back to sync the phone with the "Sync Ringtones" box unchecked, so it would delete all the extra ringtones on the phone, so I was starting from scratch. Then I copy and pasted all my custom ringtones back into the ringtone folder under Library. Then I went back and checked "sync Ringtones" and resynced again. All my custom ringtones are now on the phone
That was it exactly! Took a while since I have my ringtones scattered all over the compter but I found every last one of them. Thanks Angela!
i wanna sync ringing tones with out erasing the songs :S
