After update to iOS 5 my iPad-1 can't add new events to Calendar and Contacts

After update to iOS 5 my iPad-1 (and iPhone 4) lost "+" symbol to add new events to Contacts /stock iOS-5 Contacts app/, and can't edit old contacts - i can't change user photo, can't add phone number, ect.and thereis no opportunity to add new contact.

Long Tap is not working correctly.

And - some problems with iPad-1 stock iOS-5 Calendar - lost "+" symbol and there is no oppotunity to add new events to Calendar.

Long Tap is not working correctly.

This is very important for me because I am a school teacher and can't stay without those functions

All iPad-1 users, please check these bugs after update of IOS 5. And inform in this topic if you see these bugs or not.

Desperately need your help

Hi.. I had the same problem... To resolve this issue, I followed banndiit's post and it was ok for me. U should enable contacts and calendar in iCloud settings and the + sign will reappear .. In fact, I disabled contacts again after enabling, u will receive a validation question whether u want to keep the contacts on iPad or delete.. Select the right option for u... U should still see the + sign ... Hope it helps

Ok. I figured it out after reading fix above. Went to settings>iCloud>Calenders. My Calenders were on already so I turned them off, saving my appointments when prompted, restarted my iPhone, then went back and turned on Calenders and merged info when prompted. Buttons are back but original events are gone and only iCloud Calender showing. I am going to my desktop to check Calender setting and try selecting "all" to see if that's the problem!

lee740,

I had the same issue. Our problem was, we setup my wife's iCloud account in her iPhone using her iTunes ID/Password instead of her MobleMe ID/Password (which in our case is different).

If this is a possibility try this;

Go to the internet and log into your iCloud account. Check your calendar to see if everything is in order. If it is, go to your iOS device and click on Settings/iCloud. Delete the account and then reactivate it with the same login ID you used on the internet.

Hope this helps.

I had the same problem on a iPhone 4, so turned calandars on in iCloud and was able to add events. I also have the weekly cal app, and this change did not fix the problem in there. I can add events in the calandar and they appear in the weekly app, but then I can't edit or delete them in the app. Have to go back to calandar.

i didn't have to switch my icloud on or off...but i had to restart the calendar app.

To do this, exit the calendar app, then double tap the menu button to bring up the task manager (it shows a list of open apps in a strip at the bottom of the screen).

Tap and hold the calendar icon till a "-" sign appears on the icon's top left.

tap the "-" sign to shut the app...then tap anywhere on the main screen to close the task manager.

after that simply restart the calendar app as usual and you should have your buttons in place.

(ftw, i have icloud on for my calendar)

So let me get this straight...the ONLY way to be able to add events in your iPhone calendar is to have iCloud enabled for you calendar and address book...at least once? Therefore you pretty much have to surrender personal information to a corporation in order to retain a feature that you otherwise had the whole time...pre iOS5? That is F$^&ing nonsense. Seriously, that's not only creepy, it's plain wrong. I encourage everyone reading this thread who's not inclined to use it to NOT enable iCloud but instead flood Apple with complaints until this is changed.
