I understood one of the new features for iOS 5 was that I could swipe notifications on the lock screen to go directly to the application. I cannot get this to work on neither my iPhone 3GS nor my iPad. Is this only supported on iPhone 4S?

Setup-> notifications-> select the apps you want to swipe directly from the lock screen and turn the functions on by turning the option "on the lockscreen" "on". Hope i could help
That's not how it works on the lockscreen. Notifs which came in while the phone was asleep is all you'll see on the lockscreen. They are automatic - there's no "pull down" gesture.
As AKRBTN said, the "pull-down-feature" isn't available on the lock screen, but directly swiping on the app-notification should take you to the application. I've done it like i said in my first response and it works just fine on my iphone and my ipad2...
I completely understand your question and grappled with the same issue all night and morning until I accidentally figured it out...
To activate an app by swiping a notification from the lock screen, grab the icon of the notification and swipe it to the right. For example, for a calendar notification, grab the little calendar as if it were going to be dragged form the left to the right of the screen.

Yes! The key is to grab and swipe the icon of the notification. I've been poking, double-poking, swiping up, down, left, and right. Just needed to grab the icon and drag it to the right. Thanks for the help! Very nice feature, by the way!
