Internet Tethering unavailable after upgrading to iOs 5 - Hotpsot missing even after Network Reset

Hi,

Everything went well with the iOS 5 upgrade, except the option to turn my iPhone 4 into a hotspot.

A true problem, as I was using it frequently to tether my unlimited data plan to my iPad 2 (which is only WiFi capable).

I did reset my network setings twice without any result.

I did call my network operator (it confirmed that tethering is alowed) and the local authorized apple service (didn't had a clue).

Please help!!!

I have the same problem although at the moment I can work round it as I use my personal hotspot with PCs. I have tethering on my contract and regularly used the phone as a Wi-Fi hotspot under iOS 4. However with iOS 5 the Wi-Fi functionality with the personal hotspot doesn't work although USB and Bluetooth do work.

What I've found is that switching the Personal Hotspot off then on causes WiFi to change from "Not Connected" to "On" but no Wi-Fi device can see the phone. I tried changing the phone name and briefly (a few seconds) it was discoverable and then disappeared for good. I've reset the phone network settings and no change.

Issue Solved

General>Network>Cellular Data Network> enter correct settings parameters.

All operator parameters where missing after iOS5 update and this is the reason for the missing tethering option.

After setting it, all menu options where availble again - hotspot, etc.🙂

It is necessarily required to restart the iPhone?

I put the correct settings for my operator but the hotspot doesn't appear in settings.

I've called my mobile services provider (operator - AT&T, Orange, O2, etc.) and asked for all parameters that should be inserted at

General>Network>Cellular Data Network (APN, uesrname, password).

After that everything reapeared - hotspot, tethering availability, etc.

Is there a problem that in data settings i have no hotspot menu?

Now i have just MMS and cellular data.

In iOS 4.3.3 i had included the hotspot menu after mms and cellular.

Interesting. I just needed to reset the network preferences. Don't even think my carrier (in Mexico) would be detailed enough to give me all those parameters. Anyhow, thanks for the help.

I don't have an option to enter cellular data under the general>network option you mention. I can just toggle the cell network on or off.

There is so calles...halfsolution...

Here it is:

form cydia, install a tweak called "theterme" and after installing, respring.

After respring, Personal Hotspot menu appear in Network, but theterme app stays in settings....

Dear Miomika, IOS 5.0 is tethered Jailbreak, so it is very inconvenient. So, this solution is not workable for presently. It was working fine in IOS 4.3.3.
