Safari constantly crashes on IOS 5 for ipad
Safari is constantly crashing on my original iPad after updating to IOS 5. Try surfing Apple's website! I can't get passed one page.

On another forum I saw a suggested solution. In "Settings" choose "Safari" and clear history and cookies and data. Did that and Safari has been running for me for 10 minutes now! That is better than is was before when it was crashing after about 10 seconds everytime I opened it previously since iOS5 install. We'll see if this continues. More later!
PS - then restart iPad!

The same thing happens to me but not very often. It happens mostly when I'm watching YouTube videos on a website. It also crashes when I open a webpage on Twitter, I don't know if those issues are related.
Same here. Switched to private browsing on advice from another thread here, and it seemed stable for a while, but this mornings it seems to be just as crashy as ever. I never had anything like this happen before the iOS 5 update.
Same here! Salary is crashing quite often! On ios 5 iPad 1 :(. Is really annoying.
Same issue...will there be an update to resolve this issue it has become annoying due to its frequency with my original iPad......
My iPad is also kind of slow since I updated to iOS 5, Safari is crashing more than ever and I'm experiencing the same problem with other apps. I guess I'm gonna try and restore it, but that's just a pain...
My iPad is now a paper weight....IOS 5 the worlds most sophisticated flop! Jobs is gone and so is IOS 5!
I have been experiencing the same issue with safari CONSTANTLY crashing on my iPad 1. Is Apple going to issue some kind of fix soon?
ITS been happening to me on multiple apps. I suspect it's a RAM issue. The old iPad just doesn't have enough RAM to run iOS 5 well.
Happens at least once a minute. Since iOS 5 Update several apps crash often.
I do not think it is ram alone. It also happens if you move the iPad. So gyro sensor is involved.
IOS 5 has rendered iPad 1 almost useless. I stop now before crash deletes this post before I get to post it.
Turn off JavaScript in Safari settings. Not a great solution, bit stops a lot of the crashes.
I really regret updating to iOS 5: my iPad 1 is now very unstable. Safari crashing every few minutes (especially if opening a video clip link). Numerous other apps also crashing. Multiple resets didn't help, will try clearing Safari data.
Updates have never been a problem before, but this one has been a disaster!
Hmm, I don't regret installing iOS 5... But it is really slow on my iPad 1. I tried setting it up as a new iPad, didn't restore from a backup and it's running quite smooth, no apps are crashing as often as they did when I first installed iOS 5, it is still quite slow though :/
Just one more chiming in to say that after the IOS 5 update, Safari in my iPad1 crashes every day, multiple times. Before the update, in over 18 months of usage, I think Safari crashed maybe twice during that whole time. Apple -- guys --- really -- you gotta problem.
Another very annoying thing is that when multiple tabs are open, even just two, if you just click back to a tab, the page REFRESHES, which is completely bogus behavior. And this is in low-memory conditions -- no other apps open, two tabs only. And it can't keep one there without having to refresh it every time you go back to it. W*T*F* ???
btw I just upgraded to 5.1. Within 2 minutes after that, Safari crashed again.
Sorry meant NOT in low-memory conditions.
