Yahoo! email not pushing

Push was working again yesterday and now my mifi (Virgin Mobile) has decided it doesn't want to work today so I have idea whether push is working or not. 🙂

It was working on and off for me over the weekend as well but that's the problem. It should just work!

I had this problem recently for several weeks and for me it was a "CardDav" account for Yahoo that was blocking the emails for some reason. I always had to turn off the iphone 4 (ios 5) and turn it back on to get e-mails. I was asked occasionally for the CardDav password and would just hit "cancel" and ignore it, not knowing what it was. Anyway, I never wanted my Yahoo address book in iphone since there are hundreds of people that show up on your phone contacts list for whom you don't have phone numbers and it is just annoying. But somehow that was the account that was blocking my e-mails. Who knows, perhaps some of you have the same issue.... ? You go to Settings, Mail Contacts, Calendars and see if you have an address yahoo account. I deleted it so fast that I can't give you precise instructions, but fish around and see if you see that... I did not have to completely erase the Yahoo account nor did I have to do anything else. Hope that helps some of you!

As a temporary fix, added Yahoo! Mail (Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars->Other) using the following settings:

Incoming:

imap.mail.yahoo.com

Port 993

Use SSL

Use username and password

Outgoing:

smtp.mail.yahoo.com

Port 465

Use SSL

Use username and password

I know this will work for a while. And it does.

Well, well, well...

Emails stop pushing now. So the trick posted just now is useless.

Hi - I've been having issues getting Yahoo to push emails to my iPhone 4s (running 5.0.1) since I bought it a month ago. I did some tests and push has been working perfectly on my iPad (also running 5.0.1).

I compared my settings betweent the two devices and there was one difference. After making this change, push worked on my iPhone! I've tested in multiple times and it works great (2-3 seconds slower than the iPad).

Under Fetch New Data - select the schedule to "Manual". I had it set to Every 30 minutes and Push did not work even though Push was turned on. No reboot needed, it just started working.

Details are go to: Settings | Mail, Contacts, Calendars | Fetch New Data | Under Fetch, select "Manual"

Make sure Push is turned on.

Also, I noticed a big performance gain when I went from Show 200 recent messages to 50 recent messages.

Not working for me.

Since the email from Yahoo! on the 7th of FEB I have not heard from them.

Just sent them an email asking what's the status of the fix they said they have been working on!

I'm convinced they are giving us the run around. This will never be fixed. Ive already been censored here trying to talk about why.

What do you mean you have been "censored"?

This is, afterall, an Apple forum. What happened?

I tried to mention something about what happened in Germany about apple push mail and they deleted my post saying it was not in compliance with the forum tos. That's all Im saying because my post will be removed again

This has been working for me so far for over 12 hours. Thanks for your solution, I'll report back to see how long it lasts!

Yahoo email syncing has been sporadic at best for me. I used this guide here to try and fix things but the problem came back days later. Ugh, anyways, feel free to try the link for a temporary fix.
