Having the same issue. looks like icloud created a new calendar and deleted the personal one.
I had this same issue and I could really use some advice. I use outlook calendar at my office that literally has hundreds of appointments. I use google calendars for my personal life. I have them both syncing to my iphone. I updated to ios5 on my iphone and it went in uploaded all of my outlook and google calendar information into the icloud calendar and then deleted all of my appointments out of outlook. I still have all of the appointments on my iphone but really need all of the appointments back in outlook. Any suggestions? How do I get outlook back to how it was?
I have the same issue - an absolute disaster of a software deployment. To create duplicate entries is one thing, but to delete the old calendar is beyond comprehension - really amateur BS.
To top it off, if you use a Blackberry with your Outlook, the Blackberry sync no longer works as it thinks the main Outlook profile has been erased and then tries to delete the Calendar and Contact items off the Blackberry.
This was a fatal situation for me. Have un-installed iCloud and will just use my iPad for emails and other not business activities.
Very poor job of Apple on a proper integration with Outlook.
I don't know if this is good news to any of you, but I was able to contact my IT department. They keep a back up of my calendars, email, etc... on their Exchange server. I haven't recieved the back up yet, but I told her this all happened on Oct 12th after my upgrade and she told me she could send me the back up and it would be easy to go back to before this nightmare happened. I'll keep you posted on whether or not this is a solution. If your work for a company that backs up your Outlook, reach out to them and hopefully they can help. If you don't...I'm sorry for your loss. I guess if there is any good news here, at very least my data is on the icloud calendar and that can keep me a float until I get this worked out.
I'm really surprised at how awful this went. Its strange to me the level in which Apple dropped the ball on this one. Just to mirror what "Mehrad" said above, its one thing to "copy" my calendar to the cloud, but to completely delete it!? I imagine there will be a huge push from large business firms who's executives lost all of their data that will hopefully inspire a fix for this very soon.
j.
I'm having the same nightmare!!! It's really been a pain in the A--!!!!
Same issue here once synced to iCloud. Outlook calendar data is wiped. What I did to restore was to re-download the data from iCloud. Clear iCal and put back this data. This will then resync with Outlook. Make sure iCloud is off.
I really hope someone can find a fix for this that isn't just 'oh use your back up. I am massively stressing out having lost my Outlook calendar. Really put a downer on the iPhone 4S and ios5 for me...I won't be able to use iCloud at all now and will have to sync using my computer.
Same happened to me. You can still view the iCloud calendar in outlook, But you have to go to the calendars bar on the left, and right-click on the "calendar in iCloud" box and select "View in Overlay Mode". Still not merged, but at least you can see it. This is a major issue for me. I have tested making appts in my regular calendar, it does not show up in icloud, if I make it on my phone, it does not show up on my normal outlook calendar. Funny, when I had a droid2 and google sync this wasn't an issue. Get on it, Apple!
Can you tell me more specifically how you re-downloaded your calendar entries from iCloud back into your Outlook calendar on your PC?
Yep - complete nightmare.
Try this: leave iCloud active on your PC...and if your outlook calendar is like mine...it will be blank.
Quit Outlook.
Open iCal go to file and select export.
Save the exported file to your desktop and name it something easy to remember ...I called mine "Bad.iCloud"
Quit out of iCal
Go to system preferences and click the iCloud icon.
Unselect the calendar check box
Open outlook and select the calendar tab on the navigation panel - you should see a blank calendar with the grid lines...
Find the saved file on your desktop and just drag it over and drop it on the calendar, anywhere on the grid will work.
Cross your finger, hold your breath and if you are lucky your appoinments will reappear.
If it worked, just leave everything alone and go to your appointment.
If not, sorry that's all I got.
Which ical software are you referencing and where can I download it from?
iCal comes with the iMac. If you are using another calendar application just export your appointments from that program and import that file from the desktop back into Outlook.
Good luck.
Had the same issue. Not a bug per say but looks like how iCloud was supposed to work ( ! ).
Can't imagine a bigger face plant than deleting your Outlook calendar, should have had huge warning signs on that one from Apple.
Here is the fix that I have found (if you can call it that).
Running a MacBook Air, latest v. of Lion, iPhone 4, Outlook 2010
You have just installed iCloud and your Outlook calendar is now COMPLETELY EMPTY
Note, this will create duplicates in your iCal calendar if you care about that. You will have to kill those by hand if you use that calendar for other reasons.
Good Luck!

You can copy the Calendar entries back into the native Outlook calendar within Outlook.
In Outlook calendar view
Select view (from the top of the screen) and then select current view then tick/select all appointments.
This will change your calendar view to a list.
Select all the entries and drag them to the "Calendar" under My Calendars in the LH window.
You will now have all your entries in the original outlook calendar and Calendar in iCloud.
I then switched iCloud off for calendar and contacts.
I should have known better I've been using Google calendar sync and Toodledo sync for tasks for the last year with NO problems.
Apple are really making a mess of email etc AGAIN the functionality is nowhere near gmail.
I'm going back to using Google sync etc along with dropbox.
You can do the same thing for tasks drag them from Tasks in icloud to your "To-Do list" under my tasks in the LH window.
