I can't sync Notes to iCloud.

Can anyone help with this?

On my iPad, I can't sync Notes to my iPhone using iCloud. There isn't 'iCloud' account visible under 'Default Account' in the Notes settings even though it is turned on in the 'iCloud' settings.

All I see is 'On My iPad' for accounts under 'Default Account'.

On my iPhone there is a option in the Notes setting to change the default account to 'iCloud' so I assume those Notes are syncing to the cloud.

Everything else is syncing, photos, calendar, contracts, bookmarks, etc. Just Notes is messed up.

I had the same issue with a twist. My iPad was fine but my iPhone was messed up. Didn't show the iCloud as an account, only On my iPhone. What I did was in the Settings -> iCloud on my iPhone I deleted the iCloud account. Turned off the phone and rebooted it. Went back into settings -> iCloud and re-signed into iCloud and made sure I merged all with iCloud. After that the iCloud account showed up on my notes settings and I was able to start syncing. This may help you out

DEVICES --- iPad 1 - iPhone 4 (both iThings use iOS 5.1.1) - MacBook Pro (latter using OSX 10.6.8, which I believe means no iCloud)

My Notes sync just fine using the cord and iTunes with the Notes appearing in Apple Mail (I set up a folder just for those). All is well using the wire, but...

I cannot sync using wireless. Wireless is in my home. All devices use it successfully. Accounts checked as iCloud (as everyone here has helpfully suggested).

Still, nada. Syncing only happens via cord through iTunes into Apple Mail and back. Again, this way works just fine so I'm a little hesitant to delete accounts as my MacBook Pro is not iCloud conversant.

Does anyone have suggestions to get the syncing to happen via wireless?

Thanks in advance. --Dan

I'm having a hard time deciphering everyone's posts, so I'm not sure if this particular variation has been asked:

I have iPhone 4s and iPad2. The iPad2 is new and I wanted to transfer all my note from my iPhone to the iPad. I was able to do this by telling itunes to copy all my notes from my mac onto my ipad, but I can't update them on one device and have them appear on the other.

Sigo23 said "But watch out here is don't expect notes not created on iCloud account to sync automatically, they won't." Is this true? If I want to be able to edit notes on one device and have them appear on the other, is the only way to have created them in the icloud account? Is there any way to make old notes that are now on both devices get updated by editing them on one device? If not, does anyone know a way to transfer old notes into the icloud without copy/pasting each one on the tiny iphone screen?

Thanks,

Neil

I'm not replying to neilromsan diego so much as continuing the discussion...

I didn't see the bit about "creating notes in iCloud." Who would do that? (...unless that means creating Notes in a device that specifies iCloud as the account.) I create notes on my iPhone 4 or iPad 1 and would love to have them update one another without the need to hook up my USB cord and do it through iTunes -- which, by the way, works great via Apple Mail. When I connect via USB cord, I get the desired result: the same note content appears on both devices, but it does not happen wirelessly. If I update a Pages or Keynote file on one device, the other one gets the changed file quickly and without effort. Nice.

So... what does it take to get my devices sharing Notes changes without the USB cord and iTunes? I've checked the advice in earlier posts, for example, the part about making sure both devices specify iCloud as the account. Done. But the devices still stubbornly will not update Notes without USB and iTunes.

Any further thoughts anyone?

Me too continuing the discussion.

Thought I'd solved it as described in previous post 22 May, but it seems to be very erratic. A few days later having selected iCloud as my account for Notes on iPad 2 and iPhone 4, everything seemed to be syncing fine, I got notification of changes to 2 of my Notes through the cloud on my me.com account on my MacBook Pro (OSX 10.7.4). I then placed those notifications in a separate folder marked 'Notes' in my Apple mail me.com account. The notes then disappeared on my iPad and iPhone!

I then copied and pasted everything I wanted to keep in a new Note, this time not moving the notification on my primary me.com Inbox. Everything seems to remained where it should be (....for the time being!)

Not sure whether this solves everyone's issues, almost certainly not...but there does seem to some fundamental instability to this function.

Next time I'm near a Apple Store I'll seek the advice of a Genius.

My main iCloud account is not associated with a me.com email. I really want notes and reminders to update via icloud, but when I go to turn them on, it says I have to have a me.com email. So, I set one up. But, if I change my settings on my iphone to the new me.com email so I can sync with notes on my mac, won't that screw up my calendar and contacts? All of my calendar and contacts are under my comcast email account (my apple id). I do not understand the need for a me.com address. Is there a work around for this?

What do you mean you set up the mobile me with only notes syncing? What about your calendar and contacts? I don't see two different ways to do this with two different ID's.....

Okay Stephen,

I will try this. I think I was confused because I thought if I switched to a me.com, I was changing my email for the icloud as well. I didn't want to lose my calendar and contacts or have to switch back and forth with ID's. Not sure why I can't wrap my mind around it. I don't see a place to "add" another accuont on my iphone... when I go to icloud, it's just the one account that I can sign in or out of.

Ditto with me. After upgrade to ML, notes stopped synching beween iPhone and the MBP and iPad. iPhone was showing "on my iphone" and "iCloud." Syncing was fine between MBP and iPad. So I went into iPhone, went to iCloud, turned off "NOTES" and then turned "NOTES" back on - voila - it fixed. I did lose a couple of notes that I thought I had moved to iCloud (luckily only a few from over a year ago) but now all is working.

You can sync all your NEW notes with all devices thru icloud by making iCloud your default Notes (see settings>general>notes). OLD notes in Iphone cant be sync. But the problem here, is when iCloud gets corrupted (next to impossible), all notes will be gone.

Accidental findings: if you reset all your iCloud account (net and your phone), then sign in again, all your OLD notes will appear in icloud notes.

I have a related problem but different than those already posted on the syncing issue between my iPod Touch and iPad via iCloud. For some notes already established, I at times make changes or update to already established notes (i.e., not create a new note). Although I have the iCloud syncing capability turned on both devices, the notes are not updated/synced when I make changes to one of the already existing notes. Only if I add a new note on one of the devices is the other device properly updated. Please know that my calendars sync/update perfectly. However, it is a major inconvenience to have to manually update one device to keep them both with updated information, which is the whole idea of iCloud. Any advice would be much appreciated.

the icloud is awsome if it would transfer my notes that i had written befor setting up icloud. does anyone have any ideas... ive tried a few things but nothing... anyone know a sure proof method?

The only way so far, I find is to manually drag & Drop from My Mac Folders or Notes to the All Cloud

I dont want any method where my notes can disappear, meaning my main Account is on my Mac — How can we synchronized all that easily?

Thanks
