ios 5 + car + dock + bt = problem

Problem 1 - The phone switches to BT after 50 seconds instead of using the dock contact. It has been a problem in every ios 5 build and it survived into release. Manually choosing dock contact = fine for 50 seconds then it swaps again.

Anyone else got this? I do not want to play music through BT - I want it through dock contact. Telephone works great through BT as it should.

This worked fine in all earlier ios releases - its a ios 5 problem.

My car is a 2011 Volvo V60 - I do not want to firmware update my car even - it is innocent!

Problem 2 - Docking it in car - It very often forget what album it was playing and start to play songs in an alphabetical order starting with A

Problem 3 - Playing music through Synology app for example works great for one song and then it take a random song from iphone player instead.

Same problem goes for playing radio with example Tunein Radio.

Hi, At the momment im just using bluetooth !.. so I now have the song titles and names on the screen, but the expensive IPOD connector in my car is totally useless!... I can charge the phone but thats it unless you totally turn bluetooth off (but then cant use handsfree as it doesnt work through the ipod connector) guess we just have to either wait for a fix or download that app which is still to this date not up-dated for IOS5) ... If you have the same issue we must make apple aware as the other users have said. I presume there will be a 5.0.1 version in the coming weeks and hopefully it will have this bug ironed out at it must be effecting other car owners (but seems to be only Volvo S60 and XC at the mo) Its good to see we are all here in one place though.

HI,

the problem exists also in my Volvo V60 from 2011 - and as I read it also exists in MY2012 Land Rover Discovery with new audio systems.

A2DPblocker is hanging with my iPhone 4 and iOS 5, so I am using bluetooth instead.

When I read here that Volkswagen Passat, Volvo Sensus, Toyota Prius and Land Rover are affected I think it ist clear to say, that it is an Apple problem!

Apple - please fix.

The problem with the bluetooth connection to my Prius was created by a bad upgrade to ios 5. Eventually I discovered my music would hang, and sometime even the artwork would be incorrect even when my iPod was connected to my home stereo using an audio cable. You may want to try that. In another thread concerning the music hanging up several reported success by resetting their ipod and then restoring their latest backup using the reset option in iTunes. I tried that and it solved my problem.

We also have a 2011 Volvo S60 and both have iPhone 4 with iOS 5 installed. The bug we find with streaming music over Bluetooth is that there is no way to navigate your music library from the car's system - only the current playing song displays. When my wife first paired her phone we briefly saw an album or artist list, but have not been able to view it since. I paired my phone as well, and the same problem persists. It works fine if you control the Music app from the phone or you can skip forward or back one track at a time from the car's controls, but that's it. The phone's address book displays in the car just fine.

Apple and Volvo need to get their collective heads together on this because it's a fantastic in car system (when it works!)

I downloaded A2DPBlocker and the problem with it is that it essentially turns your iPhone into a standalone iPod. If you need to go to the root of the IOS and use any other app (e.g. Mail, Messages, Phone) the music stops and your iPod app stops functioning; when you're through using the other app, you may return to the A2DPBlocker app and resume playing music. The good news is that it permits you to play music continuously; the bad news is that your phone is essentially crippled. Also, if you forget to turn off the app, all of the sound settings on your phone become erratic and limited (e.g. alarms, incoming phone calls, etc.)

This is a kluge at best, and based on other postings, it appears that Apple is working on a fix.

I too am having a problem with my 2011 XC60 SE since updating my Iphone 4 software to IOS5. when I connect using the dock connector after 20 - 30 seconds it switches from Dock Connector back to My Car, I spoke to apple today they said contact Volvo, i spoke to Volvo they said speak to Apple after speaking to them twice today one support person suggested I restore the phone, which I did it didn't fix the problems so save your time and energy. as the car is only 5 months old i'm tempted to contact Volvo and get them to replace the Dock unit as faulty.

Steve,

As per the other posts and mine this is a problem with Apple IOS5 and not Volvo's fault. We are all suffering the same issue. All we can hope is that it is resolved in an up-date from apple as it works fine in IO4. Replacing the dock will not resolve the issue. I am very fustrated but all we can do is keep emailing apple support.

Two ways I have suggested :

Use a USB stick (smae function but is in car all the time £10 at Comet for 8gig)

Use the AD2P bluetooth connection (works fine but cant search menus or see scrolling time left of tracks)

Hope this helps. .... I think we are wasting our time with Volvo its not there fault :-)
